Toy/Gift Card Drive
Our district partners with Security Fire Department each year for a toy/gift card drive. These items are given to families in our community that are in need. We will be collecting gift cards for teenagers and new, unwrapped toys for elementary aged students beginnning November 27. To help raise funds for gift cards, students can wear a hat for one dollar for every day of the week of December 4-8. For example, if a student would like to wear a hat everyday for the whole week, it would be $5. Students who wish to participate in wearing a hat will need to provide a cash donation to their teacher the day of participation.
Holiday Shop
PTO is sponsoring a holiday shop the week of December 4 - 8. Wednesday, Dec. 6 the shop will have evening hours from 4-6 pm. Students can shop during their specials. A picture of items being sold are below. If you would like to add money to a gift voucher go to the following link: www.FunServicesColorado.com/giftcard
Lost and Found - If your student is missing a jacket, lunch box, water bottle or any other items please have them stop by the lost and found. The lost and found area is overflowing with items and we will be taking it all to a God's Pantry December 18 at 4 pm.

Strategies for Creating Strong Readers at Home
Read with your child everyday.
For younger children, read a book where the print is large, point word by word as you read. This will help the child learn that reading goes from left to right and that the word he or she says is the word he or she sees.
Read a child's favorite book multiple times.
Discuss unfamiliar words.
Ask questions as you read the story or have them retell the story to you.
Read from a variety of books, including fairy tales, poems and informational books. Source: fldoe.org
