June 3rd Half-day Lunch Order - Link Attached
On Thursday, June 3rd, we will have a half-day with dismissal occurring at 1:05 PM. In order to be well prepared for lunch, we are asking families to submit their child's lunch choice for that day. This helps us know how many sandwiches to prepare that morning.
Please complete this form (link here) ONLY if your child(ren) will be taking a school-provided lunch. You may submit requests for up to four children.
All requests are DUE BY FRIDAY, May 14. Thank you in advance for your help!
IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING LAST DAY OF SCHOOL
A NOTE FROM THE LIBRARY

PREPARING FOR 6th GRADE - INFORMATION FOR 5th GRADE FAMILIES
- We will not be busing over the 5th graders this year. Instead we will be doing a live Zoom with all the 5th grade students that includes: some current 6th graders talking about a day in the life of a middle school student; a virtual tour of the building; and some introductions from our 6th grade teachers. We have several 6th graders helping us plan it as we are certain they know more about what the kids need than we do :) This will take place near the end of May.
- We will be doing a half day, in-person orientation in August (likely the week before school starts) for students to help them feel comfortable in the building and to begin making connections with the 5th grade students from the other elementary schools.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
Thank you,
Allison
Seeking Clothing Donations
Nurse Hermann is seeking donations!
Do you have clothing your children have outgrown? Would any of it fit Carman Trails students in Kindergarten through 5th grade? Please consider donating them to our nurse's office. All donations are greatly appreciated.
2021-2022 Incoming Kindergarteners - Upcoming Events!
We are so excited to host our first Cougar Cub event of the year! The first event will be a VIRTUAL read aloud on Tuesday, May 18 starting at 6:30 pm. We welcome you to wear your favorite pair of pajamas while listening to a fun story. Our very own Queen of Books, Mrs. Manley (formerly Miss Plumley), will be reading to us. Our Kindergarten teachers, administrators, and other Carman staff will be present too. Please join us a few minutes before 6:30 pm so we can get you into the virtual room before the book starts.
Please take a look at the attachment for future events too. We hope to see you on Tuesday, May 18 at 6:30 pm via Zoom! A link will be shared at a later date.
If you have not had a chance to register for next year yet, please use this link to start the process OR contact our registrar, Karen Regan, at 314-415-6104. She would be happy to assist and answer any questions you have. If you are not attending Carman next year, please feel free to respond to this email.

ASIAN AND PACIFIC ISLAND AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH
May marks the celebration of Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month which will be celebrated in various ways throughout the month of May 2021. Like most commemorative months, Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month originated with Congress in 1977 to celebrate this great group of Americans who have contributed so much to the United States. The month of May was chosen to commemorate the immigration of the first people of Japanese descent to the United States on May 7, 1843, and to mark the anniversary of the completion of the transcontinental railroad on May 10, 1869. However, we must not forget that the majority of the workers who laid the tracks for the railroad were Chinese immigrants.
Please remember to help celebrate these wonderful cultures by recognizing the history, culture and achievements of all Asian Americans in the United States. You can also watch some of the documentaries that will be showing throughout the month on various television and cable stations.
Become curious about the cultures and the history as you greet students, parents and staff who identify as Asian Pacific Islander South Asian Americans (APISAA)
