High Museum of Art Field Trip
Through the ART Access Program, the SMS Fine Arts program was fortunate enough to participate this year in a field trip to The High Museum of Art! Funded by the generous donors of the museum, 80 students were able to attend FREE of cost to participate in a STEAM docent guided tour.
Additionally, the museum provided all students and chaperones with “welcome back cards”, allowing each child to return to the Museum with his or her family one time free of charge! A big thanks to the HMoA for funding the trip and to our Band, Chorus, Theater, and Art teachers for participating in this amazing event.

GSMST Lottery is Open!
The GSMST lottery registration window opens on November 1, 2023, and it will remain open until January 19, 2024.
Below are the dates for the Informational Meetings that provide information to students/parents interested in attending GSMST. All meetings begin at 7:00 PM in the Cafeteria at GSMST, and the information presented will be the same at all meetings. Additional details and documents are available on our school website at www.gsmst.org/.
- Wednesday, November 15, 2023 – Archer Cluster, Brookwood Cluster, Dacula Cluster, Grayson Cluster, Mill Creek Cluster, Mountain View Cluster, Parkview Cluster, Shiloh Cluster, South Gwinnett Cluster
- Thursday, January 11, 2024 – make-up meeting date
As in previous years, students will be required to meet eligibility requirements to successfully enter the lottery. This current lottery cycle will be our ninth year with a math requirement, to ensure success within the structure and pacing of our curriculum. All eligible students must be enrolled in Enhanced Algebra: Concepts and Connections (or a higher-level math class) AND 1) score "Distinguished" on the Georgia Milestones End-of-Course math assessment for this course OR 2) score 550 of higher on the math section of the PSAT. Due to the change in math courses this year, we anticipate that the use of PSAT scores will be heavily relied on. We will communicate with families who enter the lottery if the Milestone requirement changes for this year only.
This is an opportunity to visit Morehouse College for any interested families. You will have to provide your own transportation to the event as this is not sponsored by GCPS.

Stay Connected with Parent Square!
We are excited to announce that our school district has adopted a new form of school-to-home communication called ParentSquare. This unified communications platform is designed to keep parents and guardians informed and encourage greater engagement and connection with your child’s school and Gwinnett County Public Schools.
ParentSquare provides a safe way for district administrators, school principals, teachers, staff, and parents to receive and send information, such as:
- Weather-related closings & delays
- School and class information
- Share pictures and files
- See calendar items
- Upcoming class activities
District and school information will now be sent to your computer or phone via email and/or text via ParentSquare. For even more convenience, download the ParentSquare app (available for free for iOS and Android devices). Please note that some schools and teachers may still use other district-approved tools for the 2023-2024 school year to communicate with their families.
If you received our notification about ParentSquare and you have questions about confirming your account access, please send an email to PSQHelp@gcpsk12.org.CLICK HERE to how to activate your ParentSquare Account.

Shiloh Middle School Transportation Information
Medical Authorization
A parent or guardian must bring any / all medications to the school and fill out a medication administration form. Students are not allowed to carry any medications with them at school or on the bus. This includes any over the counter medication, for example; cough drops, Tylenol, etc. If you would like your child to have any OTC medication left in the clinic, you must bring to school with a completed medical authorization form.
To give us authorization to give your student their medication you will need to complete the Medication Authorization Form. You may print it, complete it, and bring it in or you can pick one up to complete in the clinic. A separate form is required for each individual medication.
If your student requires an inhaler and/or an Epi-pen you will need to complete the appropriate form.
For your student to be permitted to carry their inhaler and/or Epi-pen on their person, their physician will need to complete the section of our form advising us of their authorization. If the student will be carrying their inhaler and/or Epi-pen on their person, we ask that you also provide the clinic with a backup in case one is needed.
