Principal's Message
Greetings Washington Families,
Happy February! As we embark on this new month, I find myself reflecting on the love that all of our staff and students have for our school community! I am so appreciative of the kindness both staff and students model daily.
Speaking of appreciation, February 6-10 is National School Counselor Week, and it's the perfect time to express our gratitude to our incredible school counselor, Ms. McDonough. Her dedication and support contribute significantly to the well-being of our students, fostering an environment where every child can thrive. Let's take a moment to acknowledge and thank Ms. McDonough for her unwavering commitment to our school community.
On another note, mark your calendars for World Read Aloud Day on February 7th! We'll be celebrating the joy of reading and the power of storytelling throughout the day. Encourage your child to bring their favorite book and we will have guest readers reading aloud to classes in each grade level. If you would like to volunteer to be a guest reader, click here!
Additionally, we are excited to remind you about an upcoming parent session on February 15 at 6:30pm, both virtually and in person. Join us for valuable insights and strategies on supporting children with anxiety. It's an opportunity for us to come together as a community and share resources that empower us to nurture the well-being of our young minds.
Thank you for being an integral part of our Washington GT family. Let's make February a month filled with love, learning, and appreciation for one another AND...
Let's make it a great week at 1000 Fayetteville Street!
Magically,
Catie Burnette
Principal

Anxious students may not be able to verbalize the specific cause of their anxiety; they just know they are experiencing excessive and ongoing worry and fear about something. They may avoid situations or activities in school. They may start to decline in academics and have trouble focusing and concentrating. This workshop will provide strategies for parents/caregivers to help their children cope with anxiety.
