Character Trait of the Month
Our NEW Character Strong trait for APRIL is Courage. Check out what each grade level is working on!
A Message from the Principal
Hello Hoover Families,
Well, look at that...spring finally came! With the warm weather this week, it will melt the snow quickly. This means that the area around our playground will quickly go from snow mounds to giant mud puddles soon. We would appreciate your help with reminding students to stay on the playground/blacktop areas if they don't want to put on their snow gear to play in the "muddy snow." It's a strange request (with the warm temp and all), but we want students to have dry clothes after recess. It would be great if you can also send an extra set of clothes with students to keep in their lockers, just in case. Thank you so much for your help with this!
Here's a peek at the next few week's events:
- April 11 - Spring Pictures (Staff and Class Group Pictures AND individual student pictures)
- April 11 - PTO Meeting (In-person in the media center or virtual at meet.google.com/qom-cqrp-rsz)
- 6:30-7:30 and child care will be provided
- April 14 - MCA Parade (To wish our 3rd-5th graders success on MCA testing starting next week.)
- April 18 - Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast - Hoover Staff Lounge
- April 18-19 - Reading MCA Testing
- April 19-21 - Dental Sealants Program Onsite (For 1st-3rd grade students who signed up)
- April 20 - MN Statewide Tornado Drill Practice

Mrs. Strusz

Kindergarten Registration Night - Class of 2036
Thank you to our staff and volunteers who helped make our Kindergarten Registration Night a fun evening for our incoming K students and families!
K students and their families were able to register their student online with support from staff, check out the Kindergarten curriculum, ride a bus around the neighborhood, complete a STEM challenge, and also meet with many of the different resources and staff that will help our kindergarten students be successful their first year of school.
All incoming kindergarten students have to register online, even if he/she has a sibling already attending Hoover. If you have an incoming kindergarten student and were unable to attend, please reach out to Amy Gullickson at Amy.Gullickson@ahschools.us or 763.506.2802.

Health Office Updates
COVID-19 test kits are available for students at no cost while supplies last. If you would like test kits sent home with your student(s), please fill out a form, and the kit(s) will be sent home. You can request one kit per child in your household. If you have any questions, please contact Michelle Erickson at michelle.erickson@ahschools.us.
If you or your child are ill and would like to pick up a test, you can come to the main door and let staff know you are here to pick up COVID-19 test kits.
Winter Weather Updates
Please ensure students have dressed appropriately for the weather - jackets, snow pants, hats, gloves/mittens, and proper shoes/boots. Students will be going out for recess. The guideline for keeping children inside for recess will be zero degrees or 10 degrees below zero wind chill. Accommodations for children with special medical needs can be made with the Health Services office; written documentation from a doctor will be required.
The safety of all students is the priority when determining if schools should stay open in extreme winter weather. The decision to close school is serious, affecting many working families who would have to take a day off work or find daycare on short notice. Read more about where to get information on school closings due to weather and how cold it must be for the school to close.
Transportation Updates
As a reminder for our families with students riding buses, you can find information about the district's transportation services at https://www.ahschools.us/transportation and how to download the FirstView Transportation App to get real-time bus updates. Remember that the app might not be as accurate/updated when there are substitute bus drivers.
