Irish Gifted Academy
Week of August 21st, 2022
From the Desk of Dr. Norfleet
It was a great week at IGA, culminating with an exciting 1000/100 parade and our House Reveal Celebration on Friday. Thanks to all of our families who came to the celebration and to the football game Friday night. I really enjoyed seeing you all there.
I want to take a moment to thank Mr. Taylor for his tireless effort and dedication to making IGA such a special place by putting on such amazing programs! Mr. Taylor is the best!
He had a lot of help this week in the planning and preparation for the House Reveal. Mrs. Register and Mrs. Devaney stayed late Thursday night to help prepare for Friday and Coach Carr, Mrs. Hogan, and many others put in a lot of effort. We also want to thank Ms. Carr for the special treats made for us during our House Reveal Day. For those who I didn't mention, your efforts don't go unnoticed and are much appreciated!
This coming week we will be continuing our beginning of the year assessments and making sure #everyminutereallycounts.
I look forward to another great week at IGA!
From the Desk of Mrs. Methvin
What an exciting week for our IGA Family! The classrooms have been busy with
learning through higher-order thinking skills which include synthesizing, analyzing,
reasoning, comprehending, application, and evaluation. Teachers continue to
administer the Beginning of Year Assessments to determine individual and grade
level instructional needs. Our week ended with a FUN-filled Friday. We
celebrated the 100 th Season/1,000 th Football Game with a Game Day Parade
followed by the IGA House Reveal. During the House Reveal students and parents
were introduced to the House System and each student chose a colored chip to
determine their House assignment. We are FOUR Houses, but ONE Irish Gifted
Academy Family.
Again, this is an exciting time for IGA. That excitement includes the Local School
Governance Team and our new members. The newly elected members for the IGA are Annie Bodi (Parent), Kristal Waller (Parent), Cylina Anderson (Parent), Kari McDaniel (Teacher), Brian Brown (Teacher), and Gregg Soles (Community Member). We look forward to serving with the new members to make IGA even bigger and better. Our first LSGT Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 28th at 4:30 p.m. Please mark your calendar and plan to join us.
