August 18: Kindergarten and new to PFSD Elementary Registration 2022-2023
Elementary students who are new to the district and all incoming kindergarteners . . . mark August 18, 2022, on your calendar.
New to the District: Parents of elementary students who are new to Post Falls School District should stop by their zoned elementary school on August 18th between the hours of 8AM – 2:30PM to register their student for the 2022-2023 school year.
All incoming kindergarten students: On August 18th we will also officially register all incoming kindergarten students and conduct a Fall Kindergarten Screener. During the screener your child may be asked to identify lowercase letters, write their first and last name, and count to 30.
Information from the academic screener will be used to help us determine class lists for Fall 2022.
Please bring your incoming kindergarten student to the school during the following time slots:
Last name beginning A-G (8 AM – 10 AM)
Last name beginning H-R (10 AM – noon)
Last name beginning S-Z (12:30 PM – 2:30 PM)
What to bring to registration:
For the August *new student* registration and kindergarten screening, families will need to provide copies of the following information:
· Certified birth certificate (ordering link)
· Proof of residency (examples include a rental agreement or utility bill)
· Current immunization records
If you cannot attend the kindergarten screener, call the school on August 16 or 17 to schedule a different time.
Questions or concerns? Call your elementary school office before June 23 or when office staff returns on August 16, 2022, or call the District Office at 208-773-1658.

2022-2023 Returning Student Online Verification
The week of July 12, current PFSD parents/guardians will receive an email regarding Skyward Information Verification for students RETURNING for the 2022-2023 school year. Avoid the long registration lines and verify Skyward information online using your parent Skyward Family Access login (Family Access link). NOTE: This must be a parent user name and password, not a student’s account.
Parents / Guardians are able to update student contact information and complete all annual paperwork.
The Skyward information verification option is available Tuesday, July 12 through Friday, August 12.
If you have not already accessed your Family Access Account, click on the “Forgot your Login/Password?” link and then reset your password to get to the Skyward information verification.
Incoming kindergarten students and students who are new to the district will NOT be able to use this online option. Instead, check the Post Falls School District website for in-person registration information.

Community Library Network Launches 2022 Summer Reading
This year’s national summer reading program theme is “Oceans of Possibilities”. Readers of all ages will get a chance to sail the seven seas in their imaginations this summer. The Community Library Network is a District of 8 libraries in various locations across North Idaho including: Post Falls, Hayden, Rathdrum, Athol, Spirit Lake, Pinehurst, Harrison, and a Bookmobile.
Karen Yother, Youth Services Coordinator for the Community Library Network, invites kids to join the fun this summer, “Giant bubbles, pirates, mermaids, and yes, even donuts, await you this summer at the library.” Need an extra incentive? Sign up by June 15, for your chance to win a family pass to the DreamWorks Animation: The Exhibit at the MAC.
Sign up at your local library starting June 1. The 13-week program runs through August 31, with numerous activities and in-person entertainment offerings to boot. Reading challenges available for all ages and helps prevent summer learning loss. Summer reading guides can be found at one of the library’s listed above or online at https://communitylibrary.net/summer-reading-2022/.
Kids birth-18 years can earn prizes for reading and completing activities at library events or programs all summer. This challenge requires children and teens to read 15 days per month to win fin-tastic prizes. Grand prizes include: family pass to North Idaho State Fair, Silver Mountain Water Park, Big Red’s Barn, Triple Play, and more. As you complete and log activities each month, you are entered into the grand prize drawings, as well as monthly prizes for reaching the goal of 15 days. These smaller prizes can include: books, stuffed animals, gift cards, candy, and more.
“Summer is the perfect time to explore new places, try new activities, and find your next favorite book. And we cannot wait to see you this summer at the library,” said Yother.
For more information about the Summer Reading Program, please call Youth Services at 208-772-5612, ext. 121 or email ysteam@communitylibrary.net.
Open Enrollment Applications
Open enrollment applications are a parent's request for their student to attend a school other than the one for which they are zoned. Per Idaho Code, open enrollments must be requested and approved annually.
Due to growth in the area, it will be unlikely any new out-of-district requests will be approved. In-district applications will be considered on a stringent space-available basis. Parents are responsible for providing transportation to and from school for students who are open enrolled.
Open enrolled students are expected to follow all discipline and attendance policies and regulations. Failure to meet these conditions may result in the revocation of the open enrollment approval. In such an event, the student(s) will return to his/her zoned school.
Forms are available on the district website (link), and hard copies are available at school offices or the district office.
