DC Here We Come!!!!
April 18th - 21st
We are excited to announce a fantastic opportunity for our band students this spring – a remarkable journey to our nation's capital, Washington, D.C.! This trip promises to be a memorable experience, filled with music, culture, and the chance to explore our nation's history and heritage.
Performance at the Festivals of Music: One of the highlights of this trip will be the chance for our talented band students to showcase their musical skills at the prestigious Festivals of Music. This is an incredible opportunity for our young musicians to gain valuable performance experience, receive expert feedback, and share their passion for music with a wider audience.
We will celebrate the end of the Festival at Medieval Times with all the other students who participated in the Festival.
Sightseeing at the National Mall: Washington, D.C. offers an array of iconic landmarks, and we are going to explore them all! The National Mall, with its famous monuments and memorials, will be our stage for experiencing history firsthand. Imagine standing in the shadows of the Washington Monument, reflecting at the Reflecting Pool, and honoring our nation's heroes at the Lincoln Memorial. It's an experience that will leave an indelible mark.
Holocaust Museum: Our educational journey will also take us to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. This museum is a powerful reminder of the consequences of hatred and prejudice. Students will have the opportunity to learn about the Holocaust, reflect on its impact, and leave with a profound sense of empathy and understanding.
Smithsonian Museums: One can't visit Washington, D.C. without exploring the world-renowned Smithsonian Museums! From the National Air and Space Museum to the National Museum of American History, there's something for everyone to discover. Students will have the chance to explore a wide range of topics, from science and technology to art and history, all under one roof.
We understand that you may have concerns about the cost (see below for cost of trip and payment schedules) of the trip. Rest assured that we have worked hard to make this experience as affordable as possible, and we are also exploring fundraising opportunities to help offset costs. We believe that the enrichment and education gained from this trip are invaluable, and we don't want any student to miss out due to financial constraints.
To sign up for this exciting journey, please complete the google Interest form by October 31st. We are confident that this trip will be a rewarding and enriching experience for your child, and we encourage you to take advantage of this unique opportunity.
We will have a parent/student meeting about the trip on Monday Oct 30th at 6:00 pm following the Symphonic Winds Rehearsal. Join us!
If you have any questions or need further information, please don't hesitate to contact me. I look forward to embarking on this educational adventure with your child and hope to see you at our upcoming informational meeting.
