October 2023
Dear Phoenix Families:
Thank you for your partnership as we quickly establish our rules, routines and procedures for the students at Phoenix Elementary School. As you know we will be speaking with the kids about school safety. We are required by ND state law to complete fire drills, a tornado warning drill, and lock-down drills.
We will be scheduling parent teacher conferences soon so please be watching your child's purple take home folder. Also, it is helpful to connect with the classroom teacher using the Seasaw communication platform. The conference format has changed this year so please pay special attention to the dates and times provided.
Please take some of your valuable time to read the details of the school newsletter. Teresa does a wonderful job of summarizing all of our events and school information.
In advance, I would like to thank our Phoenix PTO for providing a warm meal for our staff members during our parent teacher conferences.

Phoenix Book Fair
Our fall Book Fair will be a familiar, welcome, and safe event for our students. Here's what you need to know about the Fair, which will take place from October 12th - 17th in the Phoenix Library. The book fair will be open for shopping during your child's conferences.
Our Book Fair offers a cash-free payment option called eWallet. It's a convenient digital account that your child can use for shopping at our Fair. Grandparents, friends, and others can contribute, too!
We're excited to celebrate our love of books together at the Book Fair!
Happy Reading,
Mr. Srur

Is my child too sick for school???
In case of a fever:
Following any fever over 100.4 degrees, a child should stay at home until he/she has been fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of over-the-counter products (i.e. Motrin, Tylenol -never give a child aspirin). During the early morning hours, a child's temperature will often register as normal, whereas later in the day it may rise again. This is one reason why a child needs a period of at least 24 hours without an elevated temperature before returning to school.
In case of vomiting and diarrhea:
Children who have been vomiting or have diarrhea need a period of time to regain strength before returning to school. Children should be kept home a minimum of 24 hours after the last bout of vomiting and diarrhea.
We want your child to feel good and get the most out of their day. Please support this by following the above guidelines and let your child recuperate before returning to school. This will help the other students and staff healthy.
Please contact Layne our school nurse if you have any questions or concerns.
Attendance Matters!!!
Students need to be in school every day, on time, and ready to learn!
First bell rings at 8:20 am - Tardy bell rings at 8:25 am
Parents are expected to call the office by 8:30 am every day that their child will not be in attendance.
The attendance line is: 746-2241

PARENT COMPACT, FERPA AND ENGAGEMENT POLICIES ARE ATTACHED!
Phoenix Families,
Phoenix Elementary School will convene an annual meeting at the Phoenix October PTO meeting on October 9, 2023 @ 6:00 pm in the Phoenix Library. This meeting will inform our parents of Phoenix's participation in Title I, Part A, explain the requirements of parent and family engagement, and our parent’s right to be involved.
Throughout the year and within our PTO committee, Phoenix will involve parents in an organized, ongoing, and timely way with the planning, review, and improvement of the Title I, Part A program. Our structure seeks to provide parents with timely information about the Title I program; a description and explanation of the curriculum, the forms of academic assessment including a definition of proficiency and will provide an opportunity for parents to share thoughts and comments on the schoolwide program plan.
We look forward to seeing you at our meeting on October 9th!
Lost and Found!
Lost and found items can be found in a box in the cafeteria by the stage. Items such as;
glasses, rings, etc will be kept in the school office.
