Jog-a-thon THANK YOU!
Woohoo! Another successful Jog-a-thon! I wanted to say thank you SO much to PSO and our parent volunteers for helping out. It ran smoothly and I know the kiddos enjoyed it. Thank you again :)

Fall Harvest Parties
Hello Deer Creek Families,
Fall brings many diverse holiday celebrations throughout our school community. Students and families celebrate Yom Kippur and Rosh Hashana, Eid al-Ahda, Diwali, Halloween, Dia de los Muertos, Thanksgiving, Mombasa Carnival, and more.
As a school community, we work to celebrate and honor all family traditions. Like last year, we will be having class Harvest Parties on Tuesday, October 31st. While we aren’t doing a school-wide costume day on Halloween, you are welcome to send your child to school in whatever you are comfortable with, whether that’s a costume or regular clothes.
As a reminder for the school dress code:
All students also need to wear clothing to school that isn’t disruptive to school. Something would be disruptive if it distracted them or other students from focusing on learning or if it got in their way of doing school activities, like sitting at a desk, participating in classes like PE, going to the bathroom, and walking up and down stairs.
No images or references to weapons, violence, drugs or alcohol
No profanity or sexually explicit images or words
No face paint or masks
As we look forward to next year, we will be moving our Harvest Parties to November.
Lost & Found will be donated after October 27
PARENTS: all unclaimed items will be donated after Family Partnership Days on October 27! We are already running out of room on the racks. All items that are labeled with the students first and last name are regularly returned to them. These are the remaining items.
PLEASE label your children's items, especially JACKETS, water bottles, and lunch boxes. Mabel's Labels are a great tool for that. Shop at campaigns.mabelslabels.com and choose "Deer Creek
Elementary PSO" to earn 20% back for our school!
2024 Kid Governor
Oregon’s Kid Governor® (ORKG) is a statewide civics program for 5th graders managed by the Oregon Secretary of State’s Office. Timed to coincide with Election Day in November, Oregon Kid Governor offers each elementary school in Oregon the opportunity to enter one student candidate into a statewide election that other 5th graders vote in. Classes can nominate a classmate to run for office, vote in the election, or both. Toolkits of in-class lessons, guide teachers and students through the program.

Volunteer Information
Volunteer process:
We are very fortunate to have wonderful community members and families who want to be part of our students' education by volunteering! With that comes the responsibility of making sure our schools and students are safe at all times.
Anyone seeking to be a volunteer for our schools and or buildings needs to be background checked and offered the vector training. If a community member and or parent wants to volunteer, they have to go through the volunteer process and be cleared before doing so.
Volunteers and after school events:
The volunteer process must be followed if the person will be interacting with our students. Whether the volunteering will take place during school or after school, the parent/community member must undergo the volunteer requirements as outlined on our website. This includes all school and or PTO/PSO sponsored events.
We are very busy with background checks for new hires and volunteers. Please get your volunteer applications submitted sooner than later so you are approved for activities throughout the year. Volunteer applications are good for 3 years, this includes the background check and the training.
Covid Vaccine Cards are no longer required!
