EPSD Spotlight on Students: Health Occupations
The Health Occupations Program CNA Clinical Experience began on Wednesday 9/27 for our 15 Senior students in the Pre-Nursing II Course. This was the first of 7 trips that Pre-Nursing students will take to Tockwotten on the Waterfront to learn in a Clinical setting while caring for residents in the Assisted Living and Memory Care facility. Under the guidance of their instructors, Ms. Kristina Martin and Mrs. Nicole Lakin, the 40 hours of clinical experience combined with hands-on training in our state of the art Nursing Lab will prepare our students to take their Certified Nurses Assistant exam this winter and qualify for employment as a CNA before they even graduate from high school.
The majority of our Pre-Nursing II students will not stop at this certification. While they have the training to go directly to the workforce after graduation, most plan to continue their training at the postsecondary to become RN's, Physical Therapists, Physicians' Assistants, and even Medical Doctors.

Free & Reduced Lunch Applications
Families must now fill out the Household Application for Free and Reduced-Price Meals in order to qualify for free or reduced breakfasts and lunches for the upcoming school year. This is very important and we encourage all families to complete and return the application to see if they qualify. If no form is completed students will pay the full price for lunch.
Applying is fast, easy, and confidential. Sign up for reduced or free breakfasts and lunches by visiting this website https://www.myschoolapps.com/Application
In addition, you may also consider applying for SNAP, the federal nutrition program that provides eligible residents with monthly financial assistance to purchase groceries. The application for SNAP is available now and more important information can found at https://healthyrhode.ri.gov/HIXWebI3/DisplayHomePage

Showing Up Together
Did you know that missing 2 days each month leads to being chronically absent from school? Missing a day of school here and there may not seem like much but absences add up quickly. Increasing our attendance is a major priority for all of us in the district. Let’s work together to SHOW UP this school year!!!
