He pānui o te tumuaki - A note from Whaea Alicia
Thank you to everyone for your support and understanding regarding illness and the need to keep children at home to prevent the spread. There has certainly been a number of illnesses around, I hope everyone who has and is unwell recovers well.
Our L4L 2 is in full swing and we plan to have our learning celebration on September 22nd this is a bit later than planned to work in with the Whale Run.
Kia a pai te wā whakatā - Have a great weekend.
Marafun and 5km run/walk you can enter your child on the Whale Run website.
On the day of the Whale Run there will be a cake stall we ask that each family donate a baking product for the stall please.
If you are happy to donate a from two hours to a few hours of your time on the day or preparing for the day that would be greatly appreciated.
The jobs range from setting up gazebos, marshalling, drink stations for competitors, food stall sales to someone willing to wear the Harold suit and run the Mara fun with the children. A form will be sent out via Skool Loop, Our Face Book page and Hero for you to fill out to identify the jobs you can volunteer your time for within the next few days.
Thank you all for your support.

Kia Ora Kaikōura Suburban School whānau. My name is Becci Southgate, I am originally from England, moving to Kaikōura in 2018. I have worked within the early years sector for twelve years and I am extremely passionate about tamariki education and development. I am currently studying for a postgraduate degree in Primary Education, and I have been very fortunate in being placed at Suburban School for eight weeks. I have always lived rurally, enjoying exploring and learning from the natural environment, this is a passion of mine and is strongly reflected within my teaching and learning philosophy. I believe we are extremely lucky to have such a beautiful local environment and I aim on incorporating it as much as possible within tamariki learning and development. I look forward to meeting and working alongside the tamariki and whānau, and I am very appreciative of you allowing me this experience with your tamariki. Please come and introduce yourself to me if we have not already met.
Ngā mihi, Becci.

The first value that we looked into was Rangatiritanga - unity, togetherness, self-determination.
We started off our journey by creating some artwork. We drew our sillohettes, then we added our names and colours that represent us as individuals. The 3 words we chose are what came to mind when we thought about Rangatiritanga.
Please feel free to come into our class and check out the amazing artwork!!
