Interviews: Thank you very much for your time and commitment in coming to the interviews this week. It is an important part of the learning process to connect teachers, whanau and children together focusing on their learning.
LMV School and ECE Leaders Day: On Wednesday the leaders of our LMV schools and early childhood had a day where we toured Gorge Road School and Tokanui School. After that, we met with Sarah Johnson from Corrections who chatted with us about their work in the community.
LMV Zone Swimming Sports: Thank you to teachers Mrs Hayley Clarke and Miss Sanne den Boon for being our supporting teachers at this event today which saw a large number of our children participate and do very well. Thank you to those parents that helped with transport and at the event.
LMV Kahui Ako Office Managers: Today (Friday 25th November) we drew together all our school's Office Managers as part of a Kahui Ako Community of Learning initiative to build relationships and strengthen practice across our school administrations. We toured Gorge Road School. We also farewelled Mrs Adrienne Dale who has provided Menzies College with many years of faithful service.
Christmas Postie Elf: Christmas card deliveries start next week being the last two weeks of the term. The letterbox is outside the staffroom for this each morning.
Boiler: We expect that replacement work for our new boiler will occur in early to mid-December depending on consent timeframes. This will mean that there is quite a bit of activity on the west side of the school including the removal of the chimney. Please be vigilant and stay appropriately away from the workers.
Miss Mineur's Registration: We enjoyed celebrating Miss Mineur's milestone of achieving full registration after two years of advice and guidance from her Mentor Teacher Mrs Hayley Clarke. Well done Caci and thank you to you Hayley for your support and wisdom over the past two years for Caci.
Acknowledging - Team Edendale
- Teachers: A big thank you to Laura, Hayley, Abby, Jenny, Caci, Sarah and Sanne for all the work that you all have done in regard to the end-of-year reporting processes relating to assessments, reports and interviews. It is a big job that requires a lot of organisation and time to fit it all in and get it completed. Well done.

Our Team of the Week - Team Kea
Wow! Term 4 already.
Throughout the day we do lots of learning.
We start off the day with writing. The children have been busy learning how to write sentences, sounds, and words.
For reading each reading group has been moving through the levels. The children work on pointing and looking at the words, fluency and learning sight words.
For maths, groups have been learning about number knowledge and addition and subtraction. It has been wonderful looking back over the year and sharing progress with parents at interviews.
- Makayla – I am proud of my writing because I write lots and get to the second page. I like maths because I am working through my PRIME book and we try some maths by ourselves.
- Sully – Maths is my favourite because I like doing maths with my Triangles Maths Group and learning number bonds up to 10 in my PRIME book. I can read big stories now and I like scary ones.
During the day we have action station time. The children really enjoy this time as it is a chance for them to choose where they would like to interact with each other. Some favourite stations are lego, play-doh, whiteboards, drawing table and role play at the ice cream shop.
- Ridge – I like playing with the lego, blocks, whiteboards and everything else. I play with my friends.
- Rose – I like playing at the drawing table. I make cards and artwork.
We really enjoyed going swimming. Thank you to Janet Pollard, Tracey Lockhart and the parent helpers. It was amazing seeing the children’s skills and confidence in the pool grow over the three weeks of swimming.
- Divine – I practised kicking and floating. It was fun.
- Maverick – I liked being able to put my head under the water. I liked the game where we flipped the pancakes.
A highlight this term has been practising for our concert item. The children have been busy learning the words and moves to our item. We are looking forward to sharing our ABBA performance with friends and whanau.
I would like to say thank you to Mrs Shepherd, Mrs Blackmore and Mrs Knapp for your support during the year. Team Kea loves working with you and you have all helped make a difference in starting their school journey and learning.
Our Writer of the Week
