We celebrated Champion High School Senior Andrew Guanio, who took first place in the 2023 Texas State Citizen Bee contest.
Andrew is the first student in Boerne ISD history to win the statewide Citizen Bee.
The Texas Citizen Bee is a statewide civic education program and competition. Students use a 171-page guide to prepare for a two-part competition with an oral and written component. The competition included a student from each of the 20 regions in Texas.
With the win, Andrew was awarded a $5,000 scholarship as the top prize. He earned a $250 gift card for winning the Region 20 Citizen Bee earlier in April.
State Finalist
The Champion Saxophonix placed 15th at the 2023 UIL State Chamber Music Festival in Bastrop, and are the first-ever Boerne ISD ensemble that has been selected as a state finalist in this event.
The Saxophonix qualified for the Festival via a recorded audition submitted earlier this year and competed against top ensembles from across the state.
Champion had a wonderful performance at the event and placed 15th overall in the state.
The Saxophonix have performed at a high level and their music has thrilled audiences of all ages.
