NJDOE Exemplary Educators
The annual Exemplary Secondary Educator Recognition Program honors diverse educators who:
- have a positive impact on their students, colleagues, and the school community;
- possess a clear vision for quality teaching and learning; and
- may ultimately receive recognition at the county, state, and national levels.
When school leaders honor hard-working educators, they promote a culture that publicly recognizes excellence and fosters pride in the education profession.

Laura Kolodziej, Red Bank Primary School
First Grade Teacher, Laura Kolodziej, was named Educator of the Year recipient for Red Bank Primary School. Laura has been a dynamic force in the school always modeling and advocating for student-centered learning across all subject areas. She empowers her students to work independently and supported her team as grade level leader at the height of the pandemic. Thoughtfully and respectfully. Ms. Kolodziej ensured all team members had a voice to build the best possible scenario for our students and families. Ms. Kolodziej demonstrated transformational leadership and innovation by learning and teaching with new technology tools -- ultimately changing the way students learn and teachers instruct. The entire school community is grateful for her teacher leadership, grace under pressure, and her unwavering commitment to her students, families, colleagues, and profession.
