Girls Basketball Set to Play in Final Four
For just the second time in school history, the Hewitt-Trussville Girls Basketball team will play in the Final Four. The Huskies will meet Theodore on Tuesday March 2 at 2pm. The game will be played at UAB's Bartow Arena.
The winner of the Hewitt-Trussville/Theodore game will play the winner of the Auburn/Hoover game for the State title on Wednesday.

Buzzer Beater Sends Huskies to Final Four
For the second time in school history, the Hewitt-Trussville Girls Basketball team is going to the Final Four! Amiya Payne hit a baseline shot as time expired to give the Huskies a 48-46 win over Vestavia in the AHSAA Northeast Regional Final. Hewitt-Trussville will play in the state semifinal on Tuesday March 2 at 2pm against Baker or Theodore. The Final Four will be played at UAB's Bartow Arena.
Amiya Payne finished with 17 points, seven rebounds, three steals, and three blocks. Jordan Hunter added eight points, two rounds, two assists, and two steals. Londyn Johnson and Audre Benson had six points each. April Hooks added five points, three steals, two assists, and two blocks.
The Huskies used strong defense in the first quarter to claim a 8-4 lead. HT would extend the lead to 15-7 early in the second quarter before the Rebels would respond. Vestavia closed the second quarter on a 11-0 run to take a 26-19 lead at halftime.
Vestavia would extend their lead to 11 points late in the 3rd quarter. The Huskies scored the final five points of the quarter to trim the lead to 36-30 entering the final period. Hewitt-Trussville used a 12-5 run in the 4th to retake the lead. The Rebels would knock down a three-pointer to tie the game at 46. Payne's game-winning basket was the only score in the final 1:30 of the game.

Amiya Payne Named to Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game
Hewitt-Trussville Senior Amiya Payne will represent Alabama in the annual Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game. This year's event will be held in Montgomery on Friday March 12. Please see the link below for the full release from AHSAA.
Baseball Winning Streak Continues
Hewitt-Trussville Baseball has now won seven games in a row after another unbeaten week.
HT 2 Helena 1 (Thursday)
Skylar Jones picked up the win on the mound as he tossed a complete game. Jones struck out nine Helena batters. Trey Burrell had a hit and a RBI. Baker Green and Kurt Kizer had two hits each. Kizer scored both HT runs. Matt Miller and Ethan Duhon also had hits.
HT 4 Thompson 1 (Saturday)
Riley Quick got the win as he pitched five innings and struck out nine batters. Benjamin Lamons got the save as he pitched the final two innings. Trey Burrell had three hits including a solo home run. Baker Green had two hits and Hudson Boren had a RBI.
HT 11 Hazel Green 1
Baker Green allowed just three hits as he picked up the win. Kurt Kizer had two hits and a RBI. Jackson Holland drove in two and also scored twice.

Softball Wins a Pair
Hewitt-Trussville Softball improved to 8-0 on the season with two 7A wins last week.
HT 2 James Clemens 1 (Tuesday)
Zaylen Tucker and Tori Hyde combined to allow just one run. Rubie Simon had the go ahead RBI in the 7th inning. Rylee Tyree had a hit and scored a run. Madi Mitchell had a RBI.
HT 5 Bob Jones 1 (Thursday)
The Huskies got off to a quick start scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Kenleigh Cahalan started the rally with a triple to left field. Jenna Lord followed with a single to drive home Cahalan. Crystal Maze then doubled to score Lord. Anyce Harvey got the final RBI of the inning as she singled.
After Bob Jones cut the lead to 3-1, the Huskies scored two more runs in the 6th inning. Harvey drove in Lord with a single, Then, Rubie Simon had a bunt hit to score Harvey. Sarah Hindman got the win in the circle as she allowed just four hits in seven innings of work.

Boys Golf Wins Monday Tournament
Hewitt-Trussville Boys Golf won the Helena Husky Invitational on Monday at RTJ Oxmoor Valley. The Huskies were led by Ethan Hacker who fired a round of 71. Austin Freeman shot a 74. Cole Davidson and Gavin Isbell had solid rounds of 75.
The Huskies team total of 295 was good enough to win the 16-team event.

Soccer Opens Area Play Thursday
7A Area 6 Soccer competition begins Thursday night as Hewitt-Trussville travels to Spain Park. The HT Girls will start at 5:30pm and the HT Boys will start at 7:30pm. The HT Girls are coming off a 2-2 Friday night draw with Hoover. The HT Boys tied Northridge 1-1 on Saturday.

HTMS Baseball Wins Weekend Tournament
HTMS Baseball won the inaugural Middle School Perfect Game Tournament over the weekend. On Saturday, the Huskies beat Oxford 5-0 in the semifinals and defeated Auburn 2-1 in the championship game.
The Huskies will be back at home Tuesday night when they host Helena.
HTMS Softball Places 2nd at Weekend Tournament
HTMS Softball won three games over the weekend and placed 2nd in the Patriot Classic in Tuscaloosa. The Huskies defeated Bankhead, Echols, and Curry before dropping the championship game.
HTMS Tennis Beats Berry
Hewitt-Trussville Middle School Tennis swept Berry on February 25. The HT Girls won 9-0 and the HT Boys won 5-4. The Huskies will travel to Bumpus on March 2.
