Get in Gear for the End of the School Year
Our Bulldogs know how to finish strong! Our STAR assessment results are coming in and students are once again meeting thier growth targets in record numbers. Benchmarking and end of year assessments are giving us lots of reasons to celebrate and make big plans for the future. In addition, students' positive choices are racking up the Bones and Paws and many fun classroom celebrations as we look towards summer.
Thank you, families, for showing your care and support for our incredibly hard working and talented team this week during staff appreciation week. The week was full of thoughtful gestures and memorable moments that will carry us through to the end of the school year. We couldn't do it without your understanding and support!
Ice Cream? Please join our Homewood Foundation 153, PMA, and PTA for an ice cream social on Monday, May 9th from 3:30-5:30 at Irwin Park. All three of these organizations are champions for our schools. Thank you for your collaboration and for fostering participation in your schools. Please click the link for registration.

StuCo Spirit Week: Our student council has put together a great sprit week. Please see the flyer below for the activities for each day.
Churchill Spirit Week
Nuts and Bolts, Pt. 2
Lost and Found: Is your child missing a water bottle or jacket? Come by the lost and found to claim any missing/lost items before the end of the school year. All items will be donated the first week in June.
Summer Learning: Letters of invitation for Churchill's summer learning programming will be sent out next week. Please note that due to construction schedules across the district, Churchill's summer learning will only be from June 6-June 23 (M-Th, no Fridays) and will take place at Hart from 8:30-11:30am. There will be no transportation provided.
Teaching Kids About Online Safety: Safe, responsible, and respectful use of technology continues to be a pressing issue and can bring about challenges for our students. Please see the attachments for ways you can help us teach kids about online safety. There are great resources embedded that can provide you some direction on how to support your child with tech use.
5th Grade - Nurse News from Hart
Dear Parent/Guardian of Fifth Grade Students,
Attached are the physical and dental forms required for all students who will be entering 6th grade in the fall. Illinois State law requires a new physical and immunizations before the first day of school.
Please schedule an appointment with your pediatrician NOW! Do not wait until August as appointments can be difficult to schedule as the school year approaches. APPOINTMENT CARDS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Physicals may be turned in to me as soon as they have been completed. Please be sure to keep a copy for your records.
6th Grade Checklist
___New physical with completed health history
___Kindergarten Immunization Requirements – see below
___Hepatitis B – 3 doses (typically given before 1st birthday)
___Tdap – 1 dose for 6th grade or on/after 11th birthday*
___Meningococcal – 1 dose on/after 11th birthday*
* If your student’s 11th birthday is after the first day of school, please include a note from the doctor.
Kindergarten Immunization requirements:
--Dtap – 3 or more doses, last dose after 4th birthday
--Polio – 3 or more doses, last dose after 4th birthday
--MMR – 2 doses
--Varicella – 2 doses
During the summer months, James Hart office if open Monday through Thursday, 8am to 2pm. There is also a locked drop box outside the Morgan Street entrance for your convenience after hours.
To begin on August 24,
the physical exam form with
completed immunizations
must be submitted by Monday August 22.

Community Connection
News from the Village
The Village of Homewood will be undergoing its 2022 Street Resurfacing Project starting Monday May 2nd, 2022 and going till Friday July 22nd, 2022. The attached document provides a list and map of streets we will be resurfacing this year. Traffic will still be able to enter and exit each of these streets, but during the construction, it may be congested.
