THE PATRIOT PARENT CONNECTION
2023-2024 Week of November 13, 2023
Dear Parents/Guardians,
I always find this a very confusing time of year, the time between post Halloween and Thanksgiving Day. Do you put your foot down and stand firm to demand that Thanksgiving should be given its rightful respect, or are you considered a Christmas scrooge for not already looking like the Griswald's by this time of year? I always find great humor in people who argue their sides with such passion. In my household, we are a little of both. I like to decorate the inside of the house during Thanksgiving break so I can enjoy it while I am off! However, my husband puts his foot down, and we do not decorate the outside until after Thanksgiving Day. Either way, I hope you are all able to gather with loved ones and give thanks over this Thanksgiving break!
Love,
LMS Admin

Important Reminders
- Please remember to only drop off students in the morning car rider line starting at 8:00 AM. To ensure the safety of our students, please do not drop off students prior to 8:00 AM as they are unsupervised.
- Reminder that anyone who is checking out a student from school must be listed on our Parent Portal check out list. Please double check that your phone numbers and email addresses are updated as well.
- Did you know that you can place a reminder on your student's MyPaymentsPlus account (cafeteria funds) when your student's lunch account is low? It will alert you when you have a balance below $10. This will ensure that your student's lunch account is never without funds.
- Please make sure your students have pencils with them each day. Our teachers will gladly give a pencil to a student who is without, however, this is becoming a regular and daily occurrence. It may be time to restock your child's pencil supply.

8th Grade News
Attention parents of 8th graders! ‘Tis the season… to plan for high school! That’s right, high school transition activities will soon be upon us. We want to help with any questions, fears, or anxiety when it comes to planning for your child’s next academic adventure. Counselors will visit 8th grade PT classes throughout the month of October to deliver our High School 101 lesson. This lesson, as well as other resources, is available to you on this page. Please keep in mind that the FCS Out of District Application Window is 10/18/23-11/30/23. Specific high school programs may have separate applications and due dates; please visit your desired high school’s website for information. If your child plans to attend his or her districted school, there is no application required unless they want to join a specialized program at that school. If you have any questions or need clarification, please contact your child’s counselor.
Out of District (OOD)
Out-of-district requests for the 2024-2025 school year will be available to be submitted beginning October 18, 2023 - November 30, 2023. The November 30th deadline does not apply to employees of Forsyth County Schools or families moving into or within Forsyth County.

CHICK-FIL-A BISCUITS ARE BACK!
We will be selling Chick-fil-a biscuits every Thursday morning in our carline. The cost is $5.00 - while supplies last and cash only.
Cops and Kids
Each year, the Sgt. D.P. Land Memorial FOP Lodge #82 hosts the Cops and Kids shopping event. This event, which has been held for over 10 years, is one of our most popular because it brings smiles to so many in the community--officers, volunteers, and children alike!
The Lodge raises funds from community donations to support this event throughout the year. Every year, families who are struggling financially are chosen and meet with local law enforcement officers to shop for gifts with their family. With the community's help, the Lodge has made sure hundreds of under-privileged children (3-14 yrs old) receive Christmas gifts.
Please complete the form and return to the School Resource Officer or email attachment to: Copsnkids82@gmail.com before Friday, December 1, 2023. No late forms can be accepted. Event is scheduled to take place December 12, 2023 at 7pm.
