Holiday Spirit Week!
PENNY WARS!
The Class of 2025 is hosting a Penny Wars contest between all the grades! Each coin/dollar is assigned points and the class with the highest points will keep their earnings with the rest going to the Class of 2025. Great time to clean out those change drawers and send in those pennies!
Student Newspaper: The Bite - Website Launch
After much hard work by our web designer Jason Elhilow, The Bite student newspaper
is proud to present our Website! Please peruse the articles written by our amazing student journalists, and check back frequently for updates!
Peace Village Display!
- Check out the beautiful and, often, thought-provoke display in front of the library. Lovely holiday houses with clever writing from our Sandscript club, as well as international houses from Creative Writing II with some very serious poems and narratives; it’s our Peace Village.
Interact Club Is Spreading Holiday Cheer
- Monomoy Interact Club has been busy making hand-made cards for the Harwich Council on Aging holiday party next week. We'll don our Santa hats, deliver the beautiful cards and sing Christmas carols with the 50+ seniors who will attend the luncheon. Thank you to senior, Talia Tambolleo Perez, who will play the piano for us. We're excited to continue this annual multi-generational tradition!
Important Info From the Animal Welfare Club
DO'S AND DON'TS TO KEEP PETS SAFE DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON
DO: ADOPT! DON’T SHOP!!
MILLIONS OF DOGS AND CATS DIE EVERY YEAR BECAUSE THEY DON’T HAVE A HOME.
DO: IF GIFTING A PET, DO YOUR RESEARCH
HAVING A PET IS A MAJOR COMMITMENT FOR YEARS - A COMMITMENT TO LOVE, ATTENTION, AND MEDICAL CARE (can be costly)
DO: MAKE SURE YOUR PET HAS FRESH WATER, FRESH CAGE, FRESH LITTER BOX
EVEN WHEN LIFE IS SUPER BUSY
DON’T: LEAVE YOUR PET ALONE IN ROOMS WITH CANDLES OR HOLIDAY PLANTS - MANY HOLIDAY PLANTS LIKE HOLLY, POINSETTIAS, MISTLETOE, AND LILIES ARE TOXIC TO ANIMALS!!!
DON’T: LET YOUR PET EAT CHOCOLATE, ONIONS, GRAPES, RAISINS, OR ANYTHING WITH XYLITOL - SUPER DANGEROUS AND TOXIC FOR DOGS
DON’T: GIVE YOUR PET ALCOHOL OR EDIBLES -
IT’S NOT FUNNY, IT’S CRUEL TO MAKE THEM SICK - You’re supposed to love your pet!
DON’T: PUT TINSEL ON THE TREE IF YOU HAVE A CAT -
IT’S DEADLY WHEN THEY EAT IT AND DON’T DIGEST IT
DO: SECURE YOUR TREE TO KEEP IT FROM FALLING
Use strong string or fishing wire to attach it to window dressings.
DO: PROVIDE A SAFE, QUIETER PLACE FOR YOUR PET TO ESCAPE
DURING HOLIDAY PARTIES OR OTHER LOUD EVENTS SUCH AS NEW YEAR’S FIREWORKS
DON’T: GIVE PEOPLE FOOD TO PETS AND TELL YOUR GUESTS
Pet stomachs are not the same as human stomachs
Animal Welfare Needs Your Help!
The club is collecting towels, small blankets, and pillowcases for local animal shelters and animal organizations. Look for our collection boxes all around the first floor of the high school.
We’ll collect all through December!!
The club and the animals thank you!!!!!
