A Message from Mrs. Stauffer
Dear Rainbow Families,
Another new year begins- Welcome 2024 ! Let me begin by wishing you all a Happy New Year filled with many successes and continued progress. I hope everyone has had a chance to relax and enjoy some quality time with family and friends over the Holiday Season. The start of school, after a significant break, always provides a good opportunity to re-establish a focus on learning. This week teachers will be reviewing school-wide expectations with students. Here are some reminders for students:
1. Bring a water bottle to school.
2. Leave toys at home.
3. Be sure to get back to your bedtime routine.
4. Remember to use the tools in your toolbox for a Green Zone day!
Schools will be closed on Monday, January 15, 2024, in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. There is so school for students and staff. Students will have a 12:30 early dismissal on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.
Respectfully,
Mrs. Maria Stauffer

Message from the School Nurse
As we return from Winter Break I want you to keep in mind your child’s sleep habits. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children ages 6-12 get about 9-12 hours of sleep at night. Your child’s sleep cycle can become easily disrupted during a break because schedules are off, new toys and electronics to be played with, and travel. Please help your child stay on a schedule by following these simple suggestions.
· Keep consistent bedtimes and wake up times every day of the week.
· Use the bedroom for only sleeping. Keep all electronic devices, televisions, laptops, ang gaming systems out of the bedroom.
· Avoid high stimulating activities within an hour of bedtime, such as gaming, watching TV, and exercise.
· Make physical activity part of the daytime routine.
· Avoid caffeine-chocolate, soda, teas, coffee, and some energy drinks.
· Keep the bedroom cool, quiet, and comfortable.
· Keep a bedtime routine, such reading and brush teeth.
By helping your child maintain a consistent sleep cycle, the transition back to school in January 2024 will be easier.
