Happy Fall to All! ππ
Dear Rainier Families,
We are βswingingβ into fall and it truly has been the best year of all!
We concluded our second month of school with our first ever Trick-or-Treat the Halls event hosted by our PTO that was very well attended. There were many new faces and it was great to see the community attend the festive event. Thank you to those who attended and volunteered. Our 5th and 6th grade attended Black Diamond overnight camp. The camp was paid for through a grant written by Mrs. Hoversten. All throughout the month students and teachers dove into learning in the best way. There were class collaborations throughout the building, outdoor learning activities and guest speakers. One of our highlighted events was the βNo Bullies Allowedβ magician assembly. Students learned valuable skills to prevent and respond to bullying.
As we enter November there is so much to be thankful for this time of year. First of all each of you are a part of something special within our CCA Community. Thank you for sending us your most valuable children. The amount of parent involvement this year has been unmatched. Your interest in your childβs school and activities builds a strong foundation for their success. Additionally, we have all been in awe by the generosity of the community. We raised $5,815 for our PTO to use toward assemblies, events and programs that enhance the learning experience for all students! Finally, we are so thankful to have a new bus driver hired and assigned to bus 1. Mr. Paul Monday has completed the required training and bid on the Ashford Valley Bus 1 route. We couldnβt be more thankful.

Taking our learning outside! π²
We have been learning about ecosystems, habitats, and biodiversity. We went to the forest ecosystem to find a habitat and write how the different living and nonliving parts of a habitat are interdependent. We went into the wild, to prove what we know, by identifying the differences between an ecosystem, habitats, biotic, and abiotic matter and organisms and how all of that relates to us! So much better than sitting in a room!
Overnight Camp! All paid for through a grant thanks to Mrs. Hoversten! ποΈ
Science Class Collaboration π¬
Pictures from the zoo visit our middle school science classes created. They designed habitats for their chosen animal and shared what they learned with our 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders! Overall a very positive experience! They were so excited to share what they learned!!

Please send cereal boxes to Mrs. Hoversten in the Art Studio.
Thank you.
π± Growing Real Organic Wonders (GROW) Class π±
Our new GROW class has been learning so much! Recently they got to learn about identifying and disposing of poison hemlock! Both classes have been working hard to get the garden ready for winter! All the seedlings are in the raised beds and covered with plastic, the garlic is all planted (awaiting mulch), the raspberries are pruned back, tied up, and thinned, and the rest of the beds are ready (or close to ready) for some mulch and cardboard.
Students replaced the splitter for the hose bib ( old one was cracked). All the assorted pots and flats are sorted and put away in the shed. They have been using hammers, pliers, small pruners, loppers, shovels, rakes, and as of today, a digging bar.

π· Extra Support for Band Students πΊ
Greetings CCA Band Families,
Because of very limited band practices that we are able to schedule during the regular school day, beginning Monday morning, Sept. 25, Mr. Hunter will be available to help individual band members on their instrument, rhythm mastery, and song mastery from 7:00 β 7:30 a.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Mr. Hunter is not at CCA on Wednesdays.
The location for extra help will depend on if it is a band day or non-band day:
- On BAND DAYS, we will meet on the STAGE.
- On NON-BAND DAYS, we will meet in the MAKERSPACE building.
Attendance is optional of course, but much can be accomplished during these special practice times. Students are encouraged to attend as often as they like.
~ Mr. Hunter
