Principal's Notes
Wow, we're here - February Break! Our staff and students have worked hard these past eight weeks and are deserving of a little R&R. Just this week, we had a lot going on - here is a recap:
I Love to Read and Write Weeks - we had a wonderful All School Morning Meeting today celebrating the work of inspirational black women. This was a big undertaking providing books of civic leadership as well as art and poetry, music and athletic accomplishments. We learned a lot today. A special shout out to our Committee consisting of Kathleen Collaro, Donna Sullivan-MacDonald and Abby Klien!
Family Math Night was on a cold, wintry school night but we still had a terrific turn-out. It occurred to me that many families might even know our organizer, Sandy Flemer. Sandy was an involved member of Orchard School while her daughter attended and it is really terrific she continues to be an active community member.
Congratulations to our 5th Graders for sharing their favorite poems on Thursday at the annual Orchard 5th Grade Poetry Slam.
Finally, Mrs. Sullivan-MacDonald finished our week bringing in owls! Orchard School is always on the move.
Don't forget to vote, Tuesday, March 3rd!
Doors open again on Wednesday, March 4th (actually never really closing); take some time to read with your child. Safe travels to all of our families leaving town!
