A Message From The Co-Principals
Dear Jayhawks,
Welcome back to the start of the 2024-25 school year at Jericho High School. It is our hope this email finds you safe, well-rested and eager for the start of school.
The first day of school is Wednesday, August 28th. Students in grades 10-12 received an email with their schedules on Monday, August 26th. Students in grade 9 received their schedules at our Freshmen Orientation on Wednesday, August 21st, and then via email later that evening.
Your teachers are excited to explore new ideas with you in each of your classes. Student Council leaders are eagerly planning events and programs to support school spirit and student life. The building administrators are fired up to welcome you back to school and partner with student leaders to make your experiences this year ones to remember!
As always, we look forward to your return and are expecting this to be an amazing school year.
Our best to you and your families,
Mr. Brian Cummings & Dr. Joe Prisinzano, Co-Principals

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
SENIOR PARKING
Senior parking passes were distributed on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 from 8:30 AM – 2:00 PM and Thursday, August 22, 2024 from 8:30 AM – 2:00 PM. If you are an eligible senior then please report to Dr. Finlay's office on Wednesday with proper documentation.
In order for a student to obtain a parking tag, they must have attended the mandatory Choices and Consequences meeting.
Additionally, the link below brings you to the Senior Driving Guidelines that the student and parent must read, complete and sign. This document must then be brought to Dr. Finlay's office along with the original/copy of the student’s New York State Class D license (NOT a DJ license) and the original/copy of the car registration card(s) of the car(s) that will be parked on school grounds.
Technology Support
If you have any questions, please email our Assistant to the Superintendent of Technology, Dr. Fogarty at pfogarty@jerichoschools.org.
CANVAS ACCOUNTS
Please note that the Canvas Calendar is the starting point for all instruction, assignments, student council information, etc. All students and parents should have a Canvas account. For help, please access the Jericho Parent Tech Overview document shared above in this newsletter.
CLUBS AND EXTRA HELP
STUDENT DROP-OFF & PICK-UP
Traffic on campus is typically very busy. As you plan for your child's travel to and from school this year, please know that one way to alleviate traffic issues is for students to utilize our bus service. Our buses are safe, fast and the easiest way for students to travel to and from school. If you will be dropping off or picking up your child from school, there are two access points; the HS attendance entrance via route 107 and the upper senior parking lot via route 106 (You may not use the front circle for drop-off).
Safety is our primary focus, particularly at dismissal. If you are picking up your child it is critical that you adhere to the following procedures:
- Car lanes are single file and drivers should never leave the line unless directed by a security agent
- When using the route 106 access, drivers must pull into available parking spaces in the upper lot and wait for their child
- Security agents are on site to assist drivers when pulling out of spaces and moving back into the single lane of cars. Please understand that the security agents are focused on ensuring a safe and efficient process so please be courteous and understanding of their role.
Please anticipate a potential wait when dropping off and picking up your child. We ask everyone to demonstrate patience and to provide extra time to account for traffic volume.
Thank you for your support.
