What an Assembly!
On Tuesday, February 7th, the Motivational Speaker, Gian Paul Gonzalez, spoke to the 5th-8th grade students at CDW about being, "ALL IN." The motivational speaker shared his story of how his words became the motivation for the Giants to win the Super Bowl in 2012. He motivates students to become empowered members of their community.

The Scholastic Art and Writing contests are held each year for students in Grades 7-12, and students can apply in 28 categories of art and writing. Submissions are then judged by renowned artists in the visual and literary arts. Since 1923, the Awards have recognized some of America’s most celebrated artists while they were teenagers, including: Andy Warhol, Richard Avedon, Idelle Weber, Ken Burns, Paul Chan, and Kay WalkingStick.

Safety First!
- When dropping off your child(ren), be cautious and patient, especially at intersections without crossing guards.
- Students should only use crosswalks.
- Drop-off is on Interschool Drive. As soon as you reach the cones, please have your child(ren) exit the vehicle.
- Dismissal is also on Interschool Drive. Please use both lanes.
- Please do not park in staff parking spots.
- Please do not drop your child(ren) off in the BOE parking lot.
- Never park in a "No Parking, Fire Lane." These lanes are designated with yellow paint in diagonal lines on the pavement along with the words, "No Parking Fire Lane."
- Never park along a curb that is painted yellow and leave your vehicle unattended.

Reminders and Updates from CDW's Student Manager
CDW Spring Sports: Baseball, Softball, Track
Interest Meeting for Baseball, Softball, and Track
Coaches for baseball, softball, and track will hold an interest meeting on February 15, 2023 for students interested in trying out this spring. All information, including the extended PPE/HHQ deadline, will be given during the meeting. Please get in touch with Nurse McCarthy to make sure your child's medical documents have been received/updated.

Preparticipation Physical Evaluation Forms
Please submit all documents to the school nurse (see links below) before March 3, 2023.
Additional Information:
The Preparticipation Physical Evaluation (PPE) may ONLY be completed by a licensed physician, advanced practice nurse (APN), or physician assistant (PA). It is recommended that you verify that your medical provider has completed the Student-Athlete Cardiac Assessment before scheduling an appointment for a PPE.

Grade 8 Pizza Kit Fundraiser
Grade 8 Fundraiser: Chick-fil-A Lunch on March 2nd
The lunch offers a chicken sandwich or 8 piece chicken nuggets and includes a large chocolate chip cookie.
Cost: $9
Chick-Fil-A sauce will be included.
Chick-fil-A cooks in 100% refined peanut oil. According to the FDA, highly refined oils, such as highly refined soybean and peanut oil, are not considered major food allergens and therefore are not identified on this list. Due to the handcrafted nature of our food, variations in our supplier ingredients, and our use of shared cooking and preparation areas, we cannot ensure that our food is free from any allergens. We prepare our foods following procedures to prevent allergen cross-contact, but products containing wheat, egg, soy and milk are all made in our kitchens. REMINDERS
Important Reminders for Upcoming Delayed Openings
- Staff will be available for drop off to begin at 9:30 AM.
- Homeroom begins at 10:00 AM.
- After 10:00 AM, students need to enter through the front door for a tardy pass. Please drive around to the front to drop them off since the other doors will be closed.
Attendance
In an effort to minimize the potential spread of illness at school, please keep your child home if he/she:
- has a fever. Students should be fever-free for 24 hours without medication prior to returning to school.
- is nauseous or is vomiting.
- has diarrhea.
Updated Old Tappan Traffic Ordinance- PLEASE READ!
The Borough of Old Tappan has amended Ordinance 242-17. The changes are noted below:
- Left and right turns are prohibited onto Charles Place from Old Tappan Road between the hours of 7:30 AM-8:30 AM and 2:30 PM-3:30 PM on school days.
- Left and right turns are prohibited onto Kay Street from Leonard Drive between the hours of 7:30 AM-8:30 AM and 2:30 PM-3:30 PM on school days.
Old Tappan Police Officers will be strictly enforcing the ordinance.

National Junior Honor Society Information for Current 7th Grade Students
Membership in the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) at Charles DeWolf Middle School is open to any seventh grade student who meets all the membership requirements at the end of the third marking period in 2023.
During the week of April 24, 2023, eligible students will be identified and invited to apply
for admission to the NJHS by email. An email will also be sent to parents of eligible
students. The induction ceremony will be held during the week of May 15, 2023 (subject to
change).
