Principal's Message
Greetings Springwater Students and Families,
Teacher/Parent conferences are right around the corner! Conferences will be held on Tuesday, November 23rd and Wednesday, November 24th. Similar to last year, we will be conducting conferences virtually (online using Google Meet). We are doing our best to create an arena-style conference experience in a virtual world. Given this constraint, we are first prioritizing struggling students for conference slots. This week we began reaching out to families of students who are currently earning 2 D's and/or 1 or more NGs.
On Monday we will be sending out conference sign-up information to all families. The number of slots available for conferences cannot accommodate the number of families served by each teacher so please consider only scheduling conferences with those teachers where additional support, clarification, or connection is needed. There is no expectation to visit all of your student's teachers; please prioritize just a couple teachers.

November Spotlight Students
Emily Harvey
Grade: 9
Interests: Skateboarding- I can listen to music and go around the neighborhood. Art- It’s just fun. I do painting.
Favorite subject in school: I don’t really have one. Math, if I had to pick.
Favorite thing about STHS: It’s small. There’s not too many people, especially when you present in front of a class.
Brisa Doroteo
Grade: 10
Interests: In school, it would be volleyball. I used to play in middle school and ever since then I’ve loved to play volleyball inside or outside of school.
Favorite subject in school: I like Leadership. I like my other classes as well, but I really like Leadership because we get to plan out events and fun activities for the school.
Favorite thing about STHS: It’s just really small, which makes it easier to communicate with the teachers. Also, there’s less people, which makes it easier for me to get to know people. I have anxiety, so I don’t like being around a lot of people.
Ann LeBlanc
Grade: 11
Interests: Inside school is mainly hanging out with friends. Outside school, I am a huge anime nerd. My favorite is My Hero Academia.
Favorite subject in school: Art. Whenever I’m in the right mood for it, I can be very artistic with designs. I’m not good at drawing humans yet, but designs for sure.
Favorite thing about STHS: There’s no drama. I see all these movies and I hear from friends who go to Gresham, there’s a ton of drama. Here you find it a little bit, but not as much.

Superintendent Search: Tell us what you think!
The Gresham-Barlow School Board needs your input to help with the process of selecting the next superintendent of schools.
The Gresham-Barlow School Board is conducting a superintendent search to replace Dr. Katrise Perera who resigned on June 30. While the board conducts the search, James Hiu is serving as Acting Superintendent.
Your participation is essential
The school board needs your input to help with the process of selecting the next superintendent. To gather feedback, the school board is using a tool called ThoughtExchange so as many people as possible can participate. You can participate in a variety of languages including Spanish or Russian.
The School Board wants to know:
What should the new superintendent know about our District, and what important skills and qualities would help them be most successful in the role?

Below are some helpful short videos to support students and parents with CANVAS. Thanks and, as always, reach out if you have questions!
COVID-19 Testing Information
Students who exhibit COVID-19 symptoms while at school will have access to a COVID-19 test.
Following are some important details to know about the COVID-19 test:
- The test is VOLUNTARY. Students must have a “COVID-19 Testing Consent Form” on-file before a test can be administered to a student. The form below must be fully completed and signed by a parent or guardian.
- Testing is intended for students who are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms.
- COVID-19 symptoms include fever of 100.4° F or higher, chills, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing and new loss of taste or loss of smell.
- Students are required to administer their own test by swabbing their own nose. A testing administrator will oversee the process and provide verbal instructions to the student.
- Testing will be conducted in the school’s Care Room or a private space.
- Students who exhibit COVID-19 symptoms on-site and are tested (whether positive or negative result) will be sent home. Further instructions will be provided at that time.
- Students who develop COVID-19 symptoms while not at school may not get tested at the school. Testing is only available for students who are already on-site and are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms.
- Please use this information to decide what is best for your student. If you have more questions, contact our office at 503-261-4600
