SCHOOL RECOGNITIONS
At each meeting over the next few months, the Board of Education has invited principals from each school to come and share some highlights and things they are looking forward to and want to celebrate for this year.
At this meeting, Akemi Sessler, Dryden Elementary School Principal, and Donna Bingaman, Greenbrier Elementary School Principal, presented.

5. PUBLIC COMMENT
Community members addressed the Board during this public comment portion of the meeting. According to Board Policy, public comment is heard for thirty minutes at Board of Education meetings. At this meeting, the public comments begin at the 8:20 mark of the meeting and can be viewed by clicking here.
Public comments were also submitted via an online Google form prior to the meeting. Submitted public comments were not read aloud at the meeting because the time limit was reached for public comment.

SPECIAL EDUCATION LOCAL EDUCATION AGENCY DETERMINATION
The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) has completed its annual LEA Determination review of Illinois school districts. According to the Individuals with Disabilities Act of 2004 (IDEA 2004), States are required to make “Determinations” under section 616 on the performance of LEAs regarding the provision of special education and related services.
ISBE has determined that Arlington Heights School District 25 Meets Requirements in implementing one or more of the IDEA requirements. ISBE indicates AHSD 25 may voluntarily utilize their Universal, Tier 1 support.

Employee Benefits Renewal for 2022
GCG Financial (GCG), the district’s insurance broker, presented the insurance renewal for 2022 to the insurance committee on September 14, 2021. A follow-up meeting was held on September 21, 2021 to finalize the recommendations below that have been presented and agreed to by the ATA.

MOTION: APPROVED
Resolution For Waiver of Limitation of Administrative Cost Cap for FY22
District 25 is identified by the Illinois State Board of Education as having administrative expenditures per pupil in the 25th percentile and below for all districts of the same type. As a result, the Board of Education has the ability to apply for a waiver for the School Code Section 105 ILCS for the 2021-22 school year after posting required notices and hosting a public hearing on the subject.

STAFFING UPDATE
The Arlington Heights School District 25 Board of Education in collaboration with the Assistant Superintendent for Personnel & Planning work collaboratively with the building administration and the Arlington Teachers’ Association to attract and hire high-quality staff to work in Arlington Heights School District 25.
This presentation showed a comparison of the positions that have been hired for the 2021 - 2022 school year and the current positions that remain vacant.

14. SUPERINTENDENT REPORT

2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR UPDATE
Superintendent, Dr. Lori Bein, updated the Board on some of the areas the District has had to modify throughout the first couple of months of school. Those include:

- SHIELD Testing
- Academy Program
- Lunch
Dr. Bein also highlighted that there is much to celebrate as the District's students and teachers bring their positive energy into their classrooms.

STRATEGIC PLAN | FAMILY AND COMMUNITY GOAL, UPDATE
Superintendent, Dr. Lori Bein, updated the Board on the progress of the Family and Community Goal featured in the District's newly adopted Strategic Plan (linked here). Action teams were established for each of the five Strategic Plan goals to bring the goals to life.
