Trunk or Treat is this Thursday the 26th from 5-7pm in the Jerabek parking lot! This is a fun and free event for children to wear their costumes and trick or treat at all the creatively decorated cars. Siblings are welcome, and adults feel free to dress up as well! Pizza and drinks will be available for purchase while supplies last.

Thank you to everyone who has donated treats so far! We are expecting a great turnout and want to make sure that we are prepared for the attendance we get. We would still love any treat donations and they can be either left in the bins at morning drop off or children can bring them to their classrooms to leave with their teacher.

Lastly - we still have 3 CAR SPOTS LEFT. If you would like to sign your car up and bring some more magic to the event, sign up HERE.

The Parent Involvement Policy and School-Parent Compact are included in our Single Plan for Student Achievement. These documents are reviewed annually by the Jerabek School Site Council members.

Please remind your students that computer use in the lunch court is not allowed. This includes breakfast times and lunch times. Liquids and various food items harm Chromebooks and make them inoperable.

We are now hiring substitute PIFs (Special Education Aides). PIFs support students in the classroom and help them follow along with the lesson, and/or they help students in the class with their work. We are looking for substitutes who would be willing to come in when one of our PIFs is absent. You would only have to work on days that you choose. San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) will again ask all school sites to collect Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) forms for all students for the 2023-24 school year. LCFF data collection also affects Title I Eligibility/Ranking, and the higher the collection rate, the more funding the district as a whole and individual school sites will receive. The collection process is currently open and will run through October 31, 2023; but we ask for the needed information to be collected as soon as possible.

Your child’s school needs this information to help ensure it receives all the state funding to which it is entitled. It will not affect your child receiving free meals at this school as all children will have free access to meals this school year. You may have received an email from SDUSD with a link to complete the LCFF form on Survey Monkey.

The LCFF online form is available on the Parent Portal, and NOT on the student’s portal. To create a Parent Portal account, you will need:

• A valid email address
• Access ID and Password from your student's school

If you do not have the Access ID and Password for your student, please come to the front office with a photo ID (DL). You will need an Access ID and Password for each student you wish to link to your account.

You may complete it using Survey Monkey or Parent Portal but you do not need to do both.

School Choice is designed for students who wish to attend a school other than their neighborhood school.

The Choice Application "Priority Window" for School Year 2024-2025 will be October 2, 2023 to November 15, 2023 and will be part of the lottery process which will be completed in February 2024. Parent notifications of the lottery results will be sent via email in early March 2024.

The SDUSD Counseling Department has shared a few resources and tools to assist students and families with managing their emotions, feelings, and stress. This first resource is the SDUSD Virtual Calming Room.

EVERY student is welcome to join us for FREE Breakfast and Lunch each school day.

• Universal FREE Meals start the first day of the 23-24 School Year.

• Breakfast is served from 8:15-8:25 in the cafeteria.

If you would like to bring a "treat" for the classroom we encourage small toys/favors instead of food due to our wellness policy and student health issues. Please no food items. Please take a look at this link for alternatives. Celebrate Without Food

You can drop off prizes in the morning before school to the teacher directly OR you can drop off at the office. You are welcome to visit our district website to learn more about our commitment to health and wellness.

Attendance is a Jerabek focus this year! All California schools are funded based on ADA - Average Daily Attendance. Prompt and regular attendance is important at all times. When your child must be absent for any reason, please report the absence using this Google Form or call the office at (619) 605-1700 (Press 1) by 9:00 a.m. every day of non-attendance, giving the exact reason for the absence. Square 1 Art is an FFO-sponsored, school-supported fundraiser that turns art into products for families to purchase. These keepsakes make wonderful gifts for the holidays and our Jerabek teachers have helped your children complete some amazing work! Catalogs will be sent home on Nov. 1st. If you’d like another family member to complete a Square 1 art piece, please contact Square1Art@jerabekffo.org.

The Family Faculty Organization of Jerabek Elementary School, or FFO, is an organization similar to a PTA, made up of parents, community members, and staff who work together to provide students with added enrichment to their existing curriculum. Everyone who has a child at Jerabek is automatically a member of the FFO.
