Term 4 Week 1 - Thursday 12 October, 2023
Prayer
Welcome Back to Term 4
Welcome back to Term Four.
All going to plan this term promises to be a fun and rewarding one. Our staff have worked hard over the holidays to ensure all was in readiness for the return to school on Monday. It was great to see the students at school with smiles on their faces and ready to go. Please take note of the calendar to make sure you don’t miss anything.
Market Day
The kids for kids Market Day will be held tomorrow. Each class is contributing to the Market Day and there will be some fun activities for our students to take part in. Some of the activities include Face Painting, Quoits, Popstick Game and the Lucky Number Bottle Stall. Most items and activities will be priced between 50 cents and $5.
Children from PP to Year 2 are invited to visit the hall and play games and make purchases at recess. Students in Years 3 to 6 can join the fun at lunch time, after the second bell.
kids for kids is all about empowering students, showing them that individually and collectively they can make a difference to the world. All of the money we raise will be sent to our friends at the Flame of Love Orphanage in the Congo.
I thank Ms Maloney and the Social Justice Committee for their work in preparing for this very special fundraising effort.
Quiz Night
Next Friday 20th October, the P&F Quiz night is taking place in the hall beginning at 6.30pm. Events like these are fantastic for our community and really add to our sense of belonging.
Obviously, a great deal of work goes into organising an event like this and I would like to thank the P&F for the amazing job in coordinating this event so far. There are many donations and great prizes coming in. We even have a signed and framed Sam Kerr Australia jersey as one of the auction items. You certainly don’t want to miss out on an opportunity to bid on this!
It's not too late to register so get your table together and register via the poster in the P&F section of the newsletter. Or via this link

It promises to be lots of fun!
Congratulations
I would like to Congratulate Taehee in Year 6 who has been selected to represent Western Australia in the 2023 Golf 12’s National Championship. This is a fantastic effort and I wish Taehee all the best in the upcoming tournament.
New Groundsperson
I would like to welcome Colin Cowan to staff as our new groundsperson. I’m sure you will see Colin around of a morning as he goes about his job of helping to make our school a safe and attractive place to be.
Interschool Athletics
Our interschool athletics team will compete next Friday at Len Shearer Reserve in the regional carnival. I wish them the best of luck and hope they have a fantastic day.
I would like to thank Mr Bridgeman for giving up his time to train and prepare these students. Parents and friends are most welcome to come and support our team.
Ninja Playground
On Monday 23rd October construction of the new Ninja Playground on the Annexe Oval will begin. There has been a great deal of hard work from our P&F and School Advisory Council to ensure this project takes place.
The fundraising efforts of the P&F have been outstanding and the contribution of close to $75,000 to build the playground is amazing. I thank them very much for their efforts.
I can’t wait for this exciting project to be finished and see it in use by our students. Exciting times!
Parking and Drive-Thru Arrangements
I would like to remind everyone of our parking and drive through arrangements at the front of the school as the safety of our children is of paramount importance.
- Vehicles will enter via the middle driveway on Tribute Street East. When lining up to enter on Tribute Street please do not block driveways of our neighbours.
- If you wish to park and leave your car to come into the school, please turn to the left and park in one of the bays adjacent to the Early Learning Centre or use the marked roadside bays outside the school. When exiting the car park, you will do so at the exit closest to Vahland Ave.
- If you are only dropping-off or picking-up then please veer right and enter the drive-thru area. In this area you may not park or leave your vehicle unattended - it is strictly drop-off or pick-up only!
- When exiting the drive-thru section you will use the exit closest to Tudor Ave.
- Children waiting to be picked up are to wait on the verandah under teacher supervision, and when they see their parent’s car enter the drive-thru, they may proceed down the steps at either end of the ramp and wait on the footpath adjacent to the bay where their parent has pulled up. Children should enter vehicles from the curbside only to avoid passing vehicles.
Best Wishes
Mark Ryan
Principal
Year 3 Gifted and Talented Testing
To ensure that we cater for all members of our student community, Queen of Apostles School engage an independent consultant to aptitude test our students in Year 3. These tests provide information that is used when considering students for our Enrichment programs.
The tests will take place on Monday 16th October. For Year 3 students who are absent on the day, and for all students from Years 4-6 who are new to the school in 2024, follow-up testing will take place in Term 1, 2024.
For more information on the tests and Enrichment Programs, please see our website.

Quiz Night Volunteers needed
We’re in search of volunteers to help with event set-up and activities on the night. Please contact Tracy at QueeniesPnF@gmail.com. Your support is greatly appreciated!
Colour Explosion Postponed
Unfortunately, due to a shortage of volunteers, we are unable to organise the Colour Explosion this year. As a result, we’ve had to delay the Colour Explosion until 2024. We sincerely thank the parents who offered their assistance and appreciate your understanding.
Angelico Art Exhibition Virtual Tours
In 2020, due to the inability to hold an exhibition that could be physically visited, the Angelico committee instituted the first virtual tour which allowed schools and their communities from across Western Australia to visit the exhibition online. As this platform has allowed far greater potential for exposure of the wonderful artwork produced by our students, we have continued to produce the virtual tour.
The Angelico Art Exhibition is an exceptional showcase of the creativity, talent and hard work of our students and staff of which we should all be proud. Please see the links below to the virtual tours.

Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house. Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.
