Sycamore Junior High Family Communication
September 29, 2023
Home Team,
THANK YOU!!! Your support raised $40,000 for student clubs, activities, and experiences. The impact of this will be HUGE! We celebrated with the Glow-A-Thon, where we danced to TSwift, painted faces, ate snow cones, connected with new friends, and played at Field Day. It was every bit of AWESOME! A huge thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered their time and energy, and to Mr. Cole for planning a fantastic day for our students.
Big news for next week is that the lower bus lot is opening! This means that parent drop-off and pick-up should go much smoother. The lower lot will also be available, after buses, for athletic/event parking as well. A huge thank you to both mother nature (for no rain) and on construction teams (Monarch Construction) for pulling it together pretty quickly. We are excited to gain a bit more functionality in our grounds. More information is below.
As always if you need anything at all, please let us know. We're here to support.
-- Mrs. Schunk, Mr. Cole, Mr. Meyer

Lower Bus Lot Opening
JH Families
With our lower lot completed, we will have an adjustment to our morning and afternoon routines. The doors to the school will open at 7:55am in the morning at both the Main Entrance and Event Entrance. The Bus Map is attached to help students find their bus on the Monday afternoon. See page TWO. This will also be shared with students throughout the day.
In the Morning:
- Car Riders --> Arrive at the Main Entrance. Doors will open and Supervision will be provided at 7:55am When dropping your child please pull all the way to end of the sidewalk on the right curb side at the front main entrance. This allows us to fit as many cars in as possible and ensure the safety of students being dropped at the curb directly onto the sidewalk. Please do not block the crosswalks.
- Walkers/Bikers -->Arrive at the Main Entrance. Doors will open and Supervision will be provided at 7:55am
- Bus Riders-->Will be dropped off in the bus lot. 8th graders should go in the Main Entrance and 7th graders in the Event Entrance
In the Afternoon:
- Car Riders-->Pickup may begin at 3:15 at the Main Entrance. When picking up your child please pull all the way to end of the sidewalk on the right curb side at the front main entrance. This allows us to fit as many cars in as possible and ensure the safety of students being picked at the curb directly from the sideway. Please do not block the crosswalks.
- Walkers/Bikers-->Will be dismissed at 3:15 from the Main Entrance
- Bus Riders-->Will exit to the Bus Lot from either the Main Entrance or Event Entrance
We will need to adjust to our new routines and we appreciate your patience and continued support! Thank you.
Fast Food Lunch Prohibited
Parents are not permitted to drop off fast food for their children for lunch at any building entrance!
Students are not permitted to order food to be delivered during lunch!
Thank you for abiding by this rule.
Glow-A-Thon
A HUGE THANK YOU to all who have supported the annual PTO Glow-A-Thon fundraiser! Together we raised over $40,000!
Our Sycamore Junior High classes of 2028 & 2029 are simply THE BEST! Also a huge shoutout to ALL of our corporate sponsors, volunteers, committee member, teachers and staff for supporting such an impactful event!
Lost and Found
The lost & found is already full! If your student lost a sweatshirt, lunchbox, water bottle or shoes(!), please have them check the lost & found by the cafeteria. If they have lost anything valuable (AirPods, jewelry, etc) have them ask in the office. The Principals recommend students keep high-value personal items like Air Pods at home. We have had 7 students lose Air Pods in the last 3 days!
All items remaining on October 25th will be donated.

Child Nutrition Updates
Free and Reduced Lunch Application deadline 10/8
We want to ensure that your child continues to receive the benefits of the Free & Reduced Meal program in the upcoming school year. State guidelines allow these benefits to extend into the next school year to provide ample time for new applications to be processed. However, there's a critical date approaching: October 8th.
If your child qualified for the Free & Reduced Meal program in the last school year and you haven't submitted a new application for the 23-24 school year by October 8th, they will revert to a full pay status. Any charges incurred between October 11th and the time you complete a new application will be the responsibility of the parent or guardian.
To avoid any unexpected charges and ensure your child continues to receive these essential benefits, please submit your application as soon as possible.
