Planning Continues-Full In Person
Board Directed District 41 to Continue Planning
At the Special Board of Education meeting this evening, Superintendent Kaczkowski presented information about what a full in-person model could look like this school year based on the new guidance from the Illinois State Board of Education and Illinois Department of Public Health that states districts can use 3 feet social distancing.
Results from the parent survey indicate that 54% of our parents would support fully re-opening this school year, 22% said no, and 24% were unsure or did not take the survey.
Per direction from the Board, District 41 will continue working on plans to return to the traditional in-person schedule five days per week, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. sometime in April. The full remote learning option would continue to be offered. The blended model would no longer be available as an option. A commitment form to choose full in person or full remote for the remainder of this school year will be sent to families this week.
Superintendent Kaczkowski will present a timeline and more information at the March 22 regular Board of Education meeting.
Traditional full in-person plan would include:
Return to the traditional school model for those who choose it.
Students must have 6 feet of space between them during lunch. Lunch will continue to be bag lunch and students will eat in classrooms or other areas of the building and outside when weather permits. “Picnic” seating may be needed where students bring a towel or washable mat from home to sit on.
Buses not to exceed 49 students.
Classroom layout changes to reflect 3 ft social distancing and space reallocation as needed at the schools
