PRINCIPAL's THOUGHTS
Dear Page Hilltop Families:
Our KINDNESS MONTH activities continue.
- The "Design-a-Kindness-Tshirt" entries are rolling in. This weekend may be a good time to create yours, if you haven't already done so.
- We are continuing to collect items for our food drive as we strive to reach our goal of 1000 donated food items. NOTE: we will have a food collection table at the Wizards game for all of you who want to bring something along.
- We hope you are following the calendar dates for future Kindness Month activities!
Thanks, as always, for sharing your children with us!

FROM THE HEALTH OFFICE...
Is it the flu or is it a cold?
It can be confusing to know the difference between the symptoms of the flu and a common cold. Common flu symptoms can include a high fever (103 or higher), a severe headache, muscle and body aches, exhaustion and dry cough. Children can have additional symptoms that are rare in adults like nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Common cold symptoms include a stuffy nose, sneezing, sore throat and a cough.
When to keep your child home:
A cold or COVID-like illness. Frequent sneezing, coughing, nose stuffed up, nose constantly running, child feels ill.
A temperature of 100.0 degrees or higher. Students should not return to school until their temperature is normal for 24 hours without any fever reducing medications (Tylenol, Motrin etc.), regardless of a negative COVID test.
Vomiting or diarrhea. Students should not return to school for 24 hours after the last episode
Infections such as strep throat, conjunctivitis, ringworm, or impetigo, until they have been on prescribed treatment medication for 24 hours
Steps to keep your child healthy:
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the best way to prevent your child is to get them a flu vaccine. Please contact your pediatrician for more information if you wish to have your child vaccinated.
You should talk to your child about practicing good health habits.
Wash hands frequently with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds
Cover mouth and nose with a tissue when sneezing or coughing. Throw tissue into the trash receptacle and wash hands after each episode.
Avoid sharing drinks, water bottles or silverware with others
