AHS Readiness

Dear Atholton Families,

A short newsletter this week.

Last week we conducted a mock lockdown drill to ascertain the readiness of our students and staff in the event of an emergency. Afterward, the administrative team debriefed and was able to provide the staff with concrete feedback on areas where things went exceptionally well and areas where we need to improve. A large part of our professional development next week (while students are off) will be spent reviewing all procedures and making sure everyone is clear about expectations during an emergency.

There have been a couple of changes to our Homecoming Spirit Week after more student feedback. The days are as follows:

§ Oct. 19 – HCPSS Unity Day (wear orange) -- see below

§ Oct. 20 – Day 1 – Pajama Day

§ Oct. 25 – Day 2 – Decade Day (9th – 70s, 10th – 80s, 11th – 90s, 12th – 2000s)

§ Oct. 26 – Day 3 – Costume Day

§ Oct. 27 – Day 4 – Dress Like A Parent Day

§ Oct. 28 – Day 5 – Class Color Day (9th – Gray, 10th – Green, 11th – White, 12th – Black)

Atholton is excited to join other HCPSS schools, students and staff in celebrating UNITY day on Wednesday, October 19th. To support Bullying Prevention Month, we invite everyone to wear orange to show we are united for kindness, acceptance and inclusion. Please see the Unity Day 2022 Flier for additional information.

Come out and support the Stand Up 2 Cancer Glow Run sponsored by the Principal's Advisory Committee (PAC) and the Atholton Boosters on Wednesday, October 19th at approximately 6:30 pm. To register or donate, please go to https://atholtonboosters.org/packet/935 . The event will take place at the stadium and proceeds will go to Stand Up 2 Cancer.

Lastly, there is a PTSA meeting this Tuesday, October 18 at 7:30 pm. I hope you can join us. Additionally, if you haven’t had the opportunity to join our PTSA, please click on the link below to join!
