Skyview Upper Elementary School
FROM MRS. BERICAL
Dear Skyview Families,
We had another productive five day week at Skyview! This week, our students practiced our Secure and Lockdown drills successfully. Students remained in their classrooms for both of these drills and teachers were able to talk through the process of the drill in the event of a real emergency. Our students demonstrated their understanding of the procedures in place for both Secure and Lockdown drills.
In addition to the drills, our students celebrated, "Start With Hello" this past week at Skyview. Many of our students volunteered their time during their lunch or advisory to make signs for this event. "Start With Hello" is a celebration of giving other individuals a proper greeting to help them feel welcomed and included. The signs that were made and hanging around Skyview represent various ways to give a greeting in 50 different languages! I challenge our students to continue the practice of greeting others all throughout the school year to help foster community and a feeling of inclusivity.
Finally, to celebrate Autumn, the Skyview community wore their favorite fall colors on Thursday, September 22nd! This was a fun way to recognize the beginning of the fall season. Thank you to all of the students who participated!
Have a wonderful and restful weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Berical
