A Message from Mr. Wright
Dear Fitzgerald Elementary Community,
I am thrilled to inform you that we have had an exceptional start to the school year. Our students have settled in nicely, and the enthusiasm for learning is palpable throughout the school.
At Fitzgerald, our vision is to create an environment where students can connect, experience, and thrive. We believe that education goes beyond textbooks and assessments. It is about fostering meaningful connections with peers, teachers, and the community. It is about providing hands-on experiences that allow students to explore and discover their passions. And most importantly, it is about creating an environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
As we move forward, I wanted to bring your attention to the upcoming fall testing period. Fall testing is an important part of our academic calendar as it provides our teachers with valuable baseline data. This data allows them to assess the current academic levels of our students and set appropriate learning goals to support their growth throughout the year.
During the fall testing period, our students will be participating in several assessments tailored to their respective grade levels. Kindergarten through 3rd-grade students will take part in the Phonological Awareness Literacy Screening (PALs), while 3rd through 5th-grade students will participate in the Virginia Growth assessment. Additionally, our kindergarten students will complete the Virginia Kindergarten Readiness Program (VKRP), and students in grades 1 and 2 will take part in the AMC assessment. You can read up on the assessments by visiting the Division's website to learn more.
I encourage you to reach out to your child's classroom teacher to inquire about the specific testing dates for each grade level. They will be able to provide you with further details and answer any questions you may have.
We believe that these assessments will provide valuable insights into our students' academic progress and enable our teachers to tailor their instruction effectively. By connecting with our students, providing them with meaningful experiences, and creating an environment where they can thrive, we are confident in their ability to reach their full potential.
Thank you for your continued support in fostering a positive and enriching learning environment for our school community. Together, we can make this a successful and fulfilling school year for all.
Sincerely,
George Wright
