Principal's Message
Hello Springwater Students and Families,
Students and staff have jumped into the 2nd semester! I have been impressed to see many students staying after school for academic support, starting the semester off on the right foot.
Yesterday, all of our sophomores visited the Center For Advanced Learning (CAL). CAL is a Gresham-Barlow School District Charter School. Students in grades 11-12 can spend half of their day at CAL focusing on Career and Technical Programs. Transportation between CAL and STHS is provided for all students.
As our current students start to look forward to the courses they would like to take next year, Springwater is also recruiting next year's 9th grade class. Next Thursday and Friday Springwater ambassadors, along with Springwater's World Music Program, will be visiting all GBSD middle schools. We will be talking about high school, playing music, and discussing the importance of taking control of your future. I love this time of year!
For current 10th and 11th graders and their families, we have a virtual middle college information meeting on Wednesday, February 15th, at 6pm. Students and families interested in middle college at Mount Hood Community College are encouraged to attend. Middle College is an opportunity for students in grades 11 and 12 to study at MHCC for free.
Do you know someone who may want to attend STHS? We will have an information night for current 8th grade and transfer students on Wednesday, February 22nd from 6-7pm. This is a great chance for 8th graders and students currently attending Barlow or GHS to see STHS and learn about the school.
Enjoy the weekend and please reach out with questions.

Future Plans After High School: A bit after I graduate, I’m planning on moving in with my friends to a big house, getting a job, and hopefully getting into college. I’m thinking about taking Theater.
Grade: 9
Interests: I love video games and movies. Those are two very big things about me. My favorite video game at the moment is Sims 4. It’s a life simulator.
Favorite subject in school: I like English whenever I get to creatively write things. That’s something that I like.
Favorite thing about STHS: Has to be the World Music class. I like it. It’s for me. I like music.
Maria Zambrano
Future Plans After High School: Hopefully go to college. I’m still not sure what college, but hopefully a college where I can study and have my own business in the future.
Grade: 10
Interests: I like drawing. I like sleeping. I like having fun. I like being outside.
Favorite subject in school: Sculpture, because it’s art and since I like art, it’s my interest out of all my classes.
Favorite thing about STHS: I came here and it’s like you have a whole new family. It’s very easy to get along with people. Nobody judges you here. You can just be yourself here. You don’t have to be shy to get help. I just love it here.
Jacob Gallian
Future Plans After High School: I plan to either pursue a career in the music industry, or attend a university studying brain science and will hopefully graduate with a PHD in Psychiatric Sciences.
Grade: 11
Interests: My interests are dominantly music as I spend most of my spare time working on producing music and mastering as many instruments as I can. Currently I play bass, piano, acoustic guitar, and drums. My second passion is all things outdoors, mainly rock climbing.
Favorite subject in school: My favorite subject at Springwater is, believe it or not,... math, mostly because I loved how my teacher, Mrs. Allen, taught the class. However, at MHCC where there are 135 plus subjects to choose from, I love my music classes.
Favorite thing about STHS: My favorite aspect of Springwater was probably the way the staff made me feel about my interests. Coming home from a hunting trip, McBride would ask all about it, and when wasting my money on Twenty One Pilot tickets, Lurie would ask me all about it and even let me incorporate my interests into my assignments. And we can't forget Ramsey as he would sit and discuss psychology with me and it honestly is what inspired me to look into it as a career option. They worked to create a wonderful atmosphere to spend 7 periods of school in.
