On behalf of our administrative team here at OLMP, welcome to another school year! After our summer re-charge, we are excited to serve all students and families within our care. As you know, we are very lucky to be part of an extraordinary team of educators and support staff here at OLMP. Thank you for entrusting your children to our staff; we look forward to watching our students develop in faith and academics throughout the school year. A very special welcome to our new Grade 5's joining us this year and to all new students joining the OLMP family. We are glad you are with us!

Playground update: Our Parent Council received some very exciting news over the summer. Their CFEP application to the Alberta government was approved for $117,879 so plans will begin on the construction of a new playground! There is not a timeline currently, but some very optimistic news. Our Parent Council and parent community have worked very hard in pursuit of a new playground and should be commended for their efforts. We will keep you updated on developments along the way.

Official schedules and class placements are now available for viewing through your Powerschool account. We appreciate your patience with this aspect of our planning; many PS glitches were worked out this past week. Thank you in advance for respecting our professional process of student placements as outlined in our letter last Spring (see attached). Option classes will be completed next week once the students are back.

You will also notice some other pertinent information within this newsletter prior to our staggered start-up next week. We will continue to update our families through this electronic newsletter on the Friday of each week throughout the calendar year. Looking forward to seeing you all next week!

Starting at a new school comes with a lot of questions about what tools to use, the types of communication, and who to contact. Please read through the Welcome to OLMP Package for Parents 2022-2023 to find many of these answers. Our weekly smore is our prime communication with parents as a school. For specific inquiries regarding your child, please contact his/her teacher directly.

Prior to the school year kicking off we wanted to share some key information for you on our staggered re-entry week as well as important back to school information. More detailed information will be shared with students on their assigned day.

A reminder that all students in grades 5-12 should attend school next week on the following days according to last name:

Thursday, September 1st - A-K (Thursday schedule)

Friday, September 2nd - L-Z (Thursday schedule)

Tuesday, September 6th - ALL students attend

Key Information to Know for Next Week's return to school day for Students

• Students should bring all supplies as well as their tech (laptop/chromebook) to the first day of school fully charged.
• Student lockers will be provided. Students may have a lock previously purchased through the school. New locks for purchase (billed to powerschool account) will be available through your homeroom teacher/teacher advisor. *LOCKS MUST BE PURCHASED THROUGH OLMP SCHOOL ONLY-NO OUTSIDE LOCKS*
• Don't forget your water bottle!
• Doors open at 8:00am on school days.

Grade 5 and Grade 6-enter through far EAST doors at end of middle school hallway
Grade 7 and Grade 8-enter through doors directly behind the gymnasium where the Middle School Commons area and Breakfast club are located

Grade 9-12-enter through SOUTH doors just off of the High School parking lot

**For new students who are unsure of which entrance to use, please come through our front doors and we will gladly lead you to your room location.**

Please take a few minutes to complete your child's Demographic Confirmation Forms, Medical Forms and all Yearly consents (FOIPP, tech use, field trips) on PowerSchool. Having the most up-to-date information about our students ensures that we receive all available funding to support your child's learning - and that we have current information to reach you during the day if necessary. OLMP will be going back to the regular M-Th schedule with a rotation of Friday's to effectively meet our instructional minutes. Students will know which day (M,T,W or Th) each of the Friday's are designated as by checking their PowerSchool.

Please see the attached bell schedule for our Regular day, Early Dismissal Day, and our new Flex Day. The “FLEX" Day schedule allows OLMP staff to collaborate and respond to intervention during the flex time while promoting school faith assemblies and extra-educational opportunities for OLMP students. The flex time enables staff to implement our “Collaborative Response Model” meeting the needs of all our entire student body.

Dear Parents,

Please make alternate plans for pick-up/drop-off location as our Staff parking lot is no longer available as an option. This area has become far too congested in the past and is an extreme OH&S concern. Please follow the flow of traffic in the Student parking lot on the South side of our building. You will notice that there is no longer a "turn left" option (right turns only) when you exit the parking lot. Alternatively, please also look at streets/locations (other than alleys) that are close to our school where students can safely access our school site. While we understand that this takes away some convenience, we are more concerned about the safety of your children.

All students who require a bus pass for the City of Camrose must reapply each school year through the Battle River website.

Bus passes will be brought to the school for the first day of school. A reminder that the registration deadline was August 12th so any registrations received after this date will be processed as soon as possible. Please be patient if you have missed this deadline.
