School-wide Magnet Project

At conferences you heard about our School-wide Magnet Project called NOT A BOX! This is a student created project that students will share at school/remotely on Tuesday, March 16. This is a great way for students to show their creativity as they follow the engineering process to make their own creation that is definitely "not a box'! We look forward to seeing their work. Parents are encouraged to help and assist their students, but the project must be student work. All students will participate.

Please contact your student's teacher if you need a box to complete the project. We can help find one for you!

Water Bottles

Students must have water bottles with them each day at school. We are not using water fountains due to our Covid Protocols and do not have supplies of bottles of water for students. Please send them to school with your student, if your child does not have one. You can purchase a McLean bottle for $4 in the office.

Conferences

Thank you so much for the families that made it to our conferences virtually. We were so happy to connect and talk ways to celebrate our students' successes. Please plan to meet with your teacher if you missed last week.

Spring Weather

Today we had the opportunity to practice our Tornado Shelter Drill during our State Wide Drill Day. Students practiced how to get to the storm shelter safely. Our storm shelter is our Library. If you do come to the building during the time we are sheltered, you can report to our secondary shelters - the restrooms behind the gym/cafeteria. If we were to ever shelter, please know the procedure is that all students remain in our shelter with the doors closed. No one is able to enter or exit until we have or All Clear call from the district. Please take time to visit with your student about our Shelter Plan - they can explain it to you. Each year McLean participates in the Battle of the Books - a reading competition held between schools. Students read 100 books between the team, so they can work together to answer questions about the books they've read. This year the competition will be virtual. Congratulations to our team representing McLean: Lyric, Lyle, Isabella, and Marcos. They will compete on March 4th.

PTA will have a regular meeting on Tuesday, Mar. 9 at 6:30 using Microsoft Teams. You’ll receive a link to join the meeting in an email in the days before the meeting if you are a member. Please call the school at 973-8250 if you would like to become a new member. We’ll be making plans for Spring events and getting reports on our financials, as well as hearing from Mrs. Graves.

March 1 through March 5 PTA will sponsor a Scholastic virtual book fair.
