Before the Jog-A-Thon
PARENT AWARENESS/VOLUNTEER FORMS
These forms are due by Thursday, November 3rd
These forms must be completed and returned.
The medical release portion must be completed in order for the student to participate in the Jog-A-Thon.
Pledge Sheet
This sheet must be turned in to the school by Thursday, December 1st.
It is suggested that pledges be obtained from families, relative, friends, close neighbors, and businesses you frequent. We urge that you do not solicit pledges from strangers.
Sponsors may pledge one of two ways:
A pledge may be made for each lap completed. For example: If a sponsor pledged $.20 per lap and 20 laps are completed, the the sponsor owes $4.00.
A pledge may be made for a “fixed” amount. For example, a sponsor may choose to pledge $5.00 regardless of the number of laps completed.
THE DAY OF THE JOG-A-THON
DATE: Thursday, November 10th
Each student should come to school prepared to walk, jog, or run. Shorts, tennis shoes and t-shirts are recommended. Visors, hats, water bottles, etc. are also acceptable. If you want to wear a costume, we ask that you dress up in capes only so the students don't get overheated. Please no masks or full body suits.
The “track” is approximately 220 yards. The students will run for 20 minutes. It is estimated that a quick walker will complete about 5-10 laps; a jogger about 7-12 laps; and a runner about 9-13 laps.
Parents and siblings are encouraged to help, watch and cheer on the students. Each student will receive their lap count at the Jog-A-Thon in order to collect their donations and turn them in by December 1st.. We will collect their bibs to determine the top lap runners per grade level and return them to the students the following Tuesday.
AFTER THE JOG-A-THON
All pledge money is due on December 1st in order to be counted towards prizes.
The students along with their parents are to collect all pledges. Checks should be made payable to: Stellar PAC. Please write your child's name on the bottom of each check. Be sure to tell the sponsor!
All pledges and pledge sheets are to be returned in the envelope provided. Additional pledge sheets are available in the office.

Student Spotlight
October Student of the Month
Shout out to our October Student of the Month Amelia Black.
Here is what some of her teachers had to say: Amelia brings joy into every classroom. She has a playful attitude but never lets it distract from her work. She has a strong work ethic and a genuine love for learning. She is kind to others and is an amazing role model for the younger students! She is always helpful and kind to her peers. She grasps concepts and completes work quickly leaving her time to offer help to classmates and teachers.
Congratulations Amelia!
Garden Club
Our Garden Club has been busy in the garden planting grape vines, apple trees, and fall seeds. Students recently harvested mini white pumpkins that were started last May in the school garden.
All Californians can now access 24/7 online tutoring — for free
Good news: every Californian can now access free online tutoring at any hour of the day, thanks to a new initiative offering educational resources to K-12 students and adult learners. The resource is part of an investment in public libraries announced Sept. 12 by California Gov. Gavin Newsom. Real-time homework help is now available "on the websites of any of the 1,130 local public libraries around the state," and here. The HelpNow pilot program currently offers help in math and language arts, in English and Spanish, at any time of the day or night. Help for "other core K-12 subjects" is available between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. in English, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, and Tagalog, with no age limit to who can take advantage of the resource.
Adults can also "access writing assistance, citizenship resources and other tools," the statement reads. The program is led by the California State Library, with the goal of providing "guidance and help" to students so they can better understand subjects and answer questions on their own. The tutors that are taking part in the program have all "passed background checks and possess, at a minimum, a bachelor’s degree," according to the State Library webpage for the program. They are also "familiar with state curriculum and standards" according to the Governor's statement. You can use the online resource via smartphone, tablet or computer, so long as you're in the state of California. And according to the state library, "users who have a valid library card can log into the service and receive additional benefits."
