FROM OUR ADMINISTRATOR
"HABARI" FROM KITENGELA, KENYA!
This month, my family has been given the call and opportunity to serve God and explore a new part of this world He created.
In the three weeks that we’ve been in Kenya, we’ve had the opportunity to meet and talk with many different people from all walks of life.
We’ve come alongside multiple ministries while we’ve been here. Our work has taken us to a baby center caring for abandoned children, to a soccer ministry in the slums of Nairobi, and playing with kids at an orphanage in Kitengela. One thing we noticed was that each ministry has Christian leaders who have identified a problem, and felt God’s call to be his hands and feet, using his redemptive power to address it.
Each and every one of the Christian leaders that we have met were brought to faith themselves through Christian schools or youth outreach at their local churches. This experience has made my belief in what we are doing at Harbor Light Christian School more resolute than ever. We are a ministry that has an exponential effect. By training Christian leaders, we are helping equip future missionaries, youth pastors, and pastors to bring the gospel not only to Emmet County, but to Kenya, Korea, and all over the world!
One of the ministries that we spent time with is Remnant Vision Christian School. The founders have been missionaries for over thirty years, and they themselves came to faith because of Christian missionaries from the US whom they met in their youth. They’ve since planted over 30 churches with local pastors and started a Christian school with over 280 students. One of these churches is located in Likoni, Kenya, and our Harbor Light family recently raised the funds necessary to build them a full-time church building, bringing the gospel to a largely Muslim community. It is this ripple effect that our students can have on the world around them for the sake of the gospel.
Thank you to each of you- parents, alumni, and supporters- for coming alongside the staff at HLCS to equip our students for the call God has on their lives. I am excited to see how God will use the students who currently fill the classrooms at Harbor Light to shine His light into the world, and to watch how God multiplies their harvest.
Blessings on you and your family this month!

“Jesus came and told his disciples, 'I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.'” Matthew 28:18-20

Young Min You (Class of 2012)
Young Min is a 2012 alumnus, and his wife Chantelle was a beloved music teacher here at HLCS in 2017/2018 and 2018/2019. We are excited to announce that the new music room in the Solid Rock Center will be named in their honor after they made a generous donation in December!
Young Min graduated from Wheaton College (IL) in 2016 with a degree in music composition. He met his wife, Chantelle, at the conservatory, and she also graduated in 2016 with a degree in Vocal Performance. After college, the two got married and moved back to Petoskey, MI, where they started their music business. Together they maintain a YouTube channel with 90,000 subscribers, produced an album called "Walk On Water," which charted Top 10 on Billboard, and built an online piano course teaching students all around the globe how to play piano confidently. Just last year they moved to Atlanta, GA, where they continue to expand their business and are now coaching other musicians, teaching them how to make a living online.
They recently welcomed a pug puppy, Wang Ja (Korean for "Prince"), into their family!
