REMINDERS FROM PREVIOUS WEEKS!
Behavior Reminders!
We have been more than generous with working around some troublesome behaviors that developed throughout this past year and a half with school not looking or feeling the same, but we have been in school long enough now to RELEARN the expectations again. The amount of time spent by our staff on these type of things during a hard year already, is stopping. We are raising the bar to back where I set it in the fall of 2019 when I was first asked to take this job, and I expect you to follow suit.
- No ID = NO PHONE USE (even at lunch) If you refuse to put them up, it's a write up.
- Phones must be put away at all times in the classrooms, unless there is an instruction purpose GIVEN by the teacher and the sign is on GREEN. If you refuse to follow this, it will be a write up.
- Ignoring teachers/staff when they are asking you to put on ID or to put your phone up will be a write up. (That's just disrespect)
- In the hallways without an ID AND a pass during class time, will be a write up. Parents- if you wonder why grades are slipping...it's their personal devices and lack of urgency to participate in class.
- Instigating, participating, or videoing an altercation (regardless of how small) will be a write up. If you are part of a fight, you will be placed at ALC.
Let me say...that you are BETTER than this, but the lack of respect (post COVID) that many are showing is not fair to the MAJORITY of our Longhorns and Staff that are here putting in the work each and every day. Do better...because you ARE better!
NO ILLEGAL PARKING ON 762 to pick up students (or DROPPING OFF IN PARKING LOT) PLEASE! THIS IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE, CAUSING PARKING ISSUES FOR OUR STAFF TO GET TO MORNING TUTORIALS!
ID's Mandatory!
- LANYARDS W/GRHS ISSUED ID - ALL GRHS STUDENTS SHOULD NOW HAVE AN ID AND LANYARD AND ARE EXPECTED TO BE WEARING IT 100% OF THE TIME INSIDE OUR BUILDING!
- NEED A NEW LANYARD/ID BRING $5 to the library between 8:00-8:15am!
- GRHS ID's must be VISIBLY WORN on the TOP half of your body. If you refuse, you will have disciplinary consequences. NO more temporaries will be given out.
GRHS DRESS CODE - REVIEW IT - KNOW IT - BE IN IT!
What do I do if my student tests positive for COVID? See the campus protocol below for how you need to report in order for us to ensure that minimal disruption will happen to your student's schedule. You can help us help you by closely following these steps!
Procedures, Remote Conferencing, and Notifications.
*They will have FULL access to their Teacher's Canvas pages (where notes and/or PowerPoint will be posted after taught that day) and a zoom link to access the designated "REMOTE CONFERENCING TEACHER- Yvonne Miller-Jones - to help assist them during this temporary period.

BASKETBALL
GIRLS Basketball
Varsity girls basketball knocked an undefeated Katy Tigers basketball team 48-45. It was an exciting back and forth game but solid defense won it for us at the end. The Longhorns are 6-3 on the season. JV - lost 31- 32. They're continuing to get better and making progress as we head into district. Fr - lost 42-24. The freshman are 7-4 on the season as they head into district play next Wednesday.
Boys Basketball
In the LCISD Invitational tournament last night, the Longhorns boys varsity team defeated West Columbia 87-26. Leading the way was, Chidi Chiatwelu 19 points 6 rebs 5 blocks, Kurtis Mcneill Jr. 14 points, Liam Dawdy 11 points, EJ Howard 10 points and Julius Carter with 9 points.
SWIM
The JV Swim Team finished another successful season at the JV District Championship Meet on Wednesday December 1! The Longhorns dominated Lamar High, Marshall, Terry, and Foster coming out at a whopping 160 points! Sophomore Ian Davis edged out 11 other swimmer to win first place in the 50 backstroke and Freshman Diego Gonzales and Matthew Garcia came first and second respectively in the 50 yard breaststroke. On the girls side, Freshman Reign Traylor won third place touching the wall before 14 other girls in the 50 yard backstroke. Senior Gabriel Mariano finished his swimming career by crushing the 50 and 100 freestyle winning him 5th and 4th place! Other notable swimmers include junior Ryan Simons who kept the entire team motivated with his positivity and Senior Muhummed Mehmood who crushed his events!
On Tuesday evening November 30th your Longhorn Swim and Dive Teams traveled to Cy Fair to compete against Cy-Woods High School and Humble Atascocita. The girls jumped out to a lead as they dominated the 200 medley relay and cruised to wins in several other events throughout the night. The 200 medley relay team of Kadyn Boettcher, Lillie Sczech, Annie Schoditsch, and Emily Ford dominated the opening event while the 200 Freestyle relay was much closer. Natalie Wallin stepped up and had a great split as she was inserted into the A relay. Other notable swims were Lizzie Pham who rose to occasion and had a personal best time in the 100 backstroke. Devyn Maxson and Pham also put their all into the 500 free and had their best times of the year. The Longhorn Girls ended up beating both Cy Woods and Atascocita in convincing fashion. The Longhorn boys stepped up to the blocks and had several races that came down to the last stroke. The boys battled Atascocita for the top spot and nearly edged them out in the last relay but fell just short. They did however beat Cy Woods which was a top 5 finishing team at the 6A state meet last year. Swim of the night goes to Brendan Burkett who won both the 50 and 100 freestyle events along with coming from behind in the 200 freestyle relay to out touch a competitive Atascocita boys at the wall! Another great swim came from Kase Boettcher as he cruised to a 1st place finish in the 100 butterfly event. Boettcher was within a second of breaking our George Ranch High School Record! Honorable mentions go out to Brayden Olvera who put his heart and effort into all 20 laps of the 500 free as well as Team Captain Jonas Tuttle clocking his best time of the season in the 100 breast stroke. Your Longhorn Men and Women's Teams return to their home pool here at The Ranch next week as they take on district rival Fort Bend Austin next Thursday, December 9th. The meet will kick off at 5:30pm. Entry is free so come out and support your favorite Longhorn Swimmers!
