STEM is an approach to learning and development that combines the subjects Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Students learn problem solving, creating, critical analysis, teamwork, independent thinking, initiative, digital literacy, communication, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit.

S- Science: observing, experimenting, making predictions, and asking questions

T- Technology: being inventive, using tools, making things work, using computers

E- Engineering: solving problems, using materials and tools, designing, creating, and building

M- Mathematics: patterning, sequencing, exploring shapes, numbers, and measurement

STEM Enrichment has 3 classes that rotate every two weeks. Students will have the opportunity to work in the STEM Lab, Makerspace, and the Computer Lab. Students will visit each class for two weeks throughout each quarter.

Students will learn to code and program using coding games, physical activities, beebots, mouse robots, and ozobots. They will also engineer robots using various robotics kits. Students will complete STEM Challenges that relate to their classroom curriculum as well.

Students will work through the Engineering Design Process by completing STEM Challenges with various resources such as legos, magentic tiles, kinetix, blocks, and more. They will be completing a STEM projects that connect to their classroom curriculum.

Students will learn how to type by practicing their keyboarding skills using typing.com. Once they have demonstrated mastery of typing, they will work on computer programming using code.org.

We offer a variety of STEM clubs to our students, such as:

• Primary STEM Club Robotics and Coding (kinder-2nd grade)

I am very excited to be a part of the Club Hill STEM family! This is my 14th year in education. I worked as a SPED aide, an enrollment center advisor, as a STEM summer camp teacher, and I taught 2nd and 3rd grade bilingual in Richardson ISD. I was also the STEM Lead teacher and primary robotics club instructor on campus as well as the Family and Engagement Specialist. I am certified in Bilingual Education, Special Education, and STEM as well. Throughout my journey in education, I fell in love with STEM and want to share that passion with our students, parents, and staff so that our community can reap the rewards this instructional mindset offers. I am also happily married and have two young children that keep my husband and I on the go! We enjoy cooking, the outdoors, riding bikes and hiking, spending time with family, reading, building, and watching our children grow. Again, I am so happy to be here and I look forward to getting to know you all as we continue to unlock endless possibilities with our students and community at Club Hill STEM Elementary School.
