Pennsbury High School's 75th Annual Commencement
Six-hundred and seventy-five seniors graduated from Pennsbury High School on Thursday, June 8, 2023. Due to construction at Falcon Field, this year’s ceremony is being held at the Cure Insurance Arena in Trenton, New Jersey.
One-hundred and eighty-two scholarships, totaling $5,050.070.00, have been awarded to the PHS Class of 2023. Post-secondary plans for the graduate include a commitment to the United States Military, trade schools, and two and four-year colleges and universities, including Cornell University, New York University, Penn State University, University of Michigan, University of Maryland, University of Pennsylvania, the United States Air Force Academy, Virginia Tech, and more.
Commencement speakers included TR Kannan, President of the Pennsbury School Board of Directors; Dr. Thomas Smith, Pennsbury Superintendent of Schools; Reginald Meadows, Pennsbury High School Campus Principal. Student speakers were Gavin Kuebler, Pennsbury High School Class President, and Senior School Board Representative; Henry Franklin and Amanda Qu.

The Best Prom in America
On Saturday, June 3, Pennsbury High School seniors went back to the 80's at the “Best Prom in America,” as named by Reader’s Digest. Students danced the night away, enjoyed fine dining, a hypnotist, the Pennsbury Faculty Band, AND 80's hip hop pioneers, The Sugarhill Gang!
“Prom to the Eighties,” was Pennsbury’s homage to the popular decade defined by vibrant pop culture, technological advancements, political shifts, and significant social changes.
Every inch of Pennsbury High School’s first floor halls were covered in decorations and murals painstakingly created by students, staff, parents, and community members, all with an 80’s flair, highlighting music, movies, pop culture, and more.
Pennsbury’s prom is known for its elaborate decorations. In 2019, the school shattered the Guinness World Record for the most lipstick kiss prints on a mural. The 63-foot-long, 11-foot-high 3D mural, which used 41,692 kisses, spelled out "Rock Music" to fit the theme of "Prom to the Music." The creation of the mural took a village, with students and community members creating kiss prints during sporting events, special school events, prom committee meetings, and in their own homes.
The Pennsbury Senior Prom culminates many months of planning and decorating by scores of students and their parents and teachers. A long-standing, popular tradition, the prom decorating also attracts local community members who participate as alumni and also parents of alumni.

Therapy Dogs in Action
Students and staff at Pennsbury High School were greeted by the district's new team of therapy dogs when they entered the building on Friday, June 9. The pups were on the job today to help provide a stress break for students taking finals. They will be on campus again on Monday, June 12. The dogs will not approach students who do not wish to interact with them.
At the beginning of the school year, the Pennsbury School District partnered with Attitudes in Reverse to train therapy dogs with the goal of supporting the mental health of our students and staff. All of our therapy dogs and their Pennsbury employee handlers have undergone extensive training throughout the school year and have passed the necessary certification to become therapy dogs.
Field Day
Field Day is a cherished tradition in Pennsbury, one that creates memories that will be treasured for years to come. Students in grades kindergarten through 8th headed outside over the last two weeks, divided into two fierce teams, the Orange and the Black, united through friendly competition and team spirit.
Field Day in Pennsbury School District is not just about athletic prowess; it is an opportunity for students to cultivate essential values like sportsmanship, resilience, and collaboration. Thanks to all of our Pennsbury parents and guardians who volunteered their time to make Field Day a success!

William Penn Surpasses Fundraising Goal For The Kids!
Congratulations to the William Penn Middle School students who surpassed their fundraising goal to support the fight against pediatric cancer. The school recently hosted its first-ever Mini-THON, led by 6th-grader teacher Morgan Cox, and they raised $1,843! Their goal was $1,000.
The funds will help cover medical expenses for families with children battling cancer and support a comprehensive team of researchers looking for a cure. William Penn's Mini-THON and others in Pennsbury are modeled after the Penn State Dance Marathon.
"Four Diamonds Mini-THONs" originated in 1993 and empowers students to learn about event management and philanthropy by joining in the fight against pediatric cancer.

Quarry Hill Celebrates Pennsylvania Day
On Wednesday, May 31, Quarry Hill Elementary School's fourth-graders celebrated Pennsylvania Day as a culminating activity for their social studies unit in which they learned about our Keystone State. The students received a visit from Mr. William Penn, who traveled from his nearby home at Pennsbury Manor. This was made possible through a Pennsbury Partners Program mini-grant.
Students also took a virtual tour of Philadelphia, where they "visited" the Liberty Bell, the Mint, Betsy Ross's house, and Franklin Square. The students enjoyed Pennsylvania-themed snacks, such as Herr's chips, TastyKakes, Philadelphia soft pretzels, chocolate chip cookies, and Hershey's Kisses.
Finally, students dressed up as the famous Pennsylvanian they had studied in library class and "came alive" at their Living Wax Museum. It was fun for everyone to hear the students share facts about their person while in character!
Zoo-on-Wheels Comes to Walt Disney
On Wednesday, June 2, the Elmwood Park Zoo-on-Wheels came to visit Walt Disney Elementary School. Kindergarten and first-grade students had the opportunity to meet Gus the five-year-old hedgehog, Sydney the nine-year-old blue-tongued skink, and Duke the 33-year-old box turtle! Students learned about the animals' different adaptations and defense mechanisms that help them survive in the wild, what they eat, and more. This activity was made possible by first-grade teacher Lorie Becker and a Pennsbury Partner's Program mini-grant.
