Dress Code Guidelines
Caps should be placed on the head so that the mortarboard is level. The front of the cap is indicated on the inside of the crown. Caps are never worn on the back of the head. For graduation, caps are worn parallel to the ground with the point in the center of the forehead. Caps should be held in place with bobby pins. At the beginning of the ceremony, tassels are positioned ON THE RIGHT.
Students should not arrive with purses, bookbags, fanny packs, etc. as these items will also be collected by the administration.
Graduates may only wear cords, stoles, or medals that represent a school-awarded achievement. These could include achievements such as honor grad status, honor societies, service hours, athletics as well as Boy/Girl Scout honors or military honors. Any garb that does not represent any of the above achievements will not be allowed into the ceremony. Any items not meeting the requirements outlined above will be confiscated and can be picked up from the front office the day after graduation.
You are encouraged to wear and/or practice any traditions you may have before or after the ceremony for pictures, parties, etc.
Graduation is a formal ceremony, so we ask that you abide by the following guidelines:
Dresses and skirts should be lightweight (for your comfort) and follow the school dress code (no backless or strapless dresses or halter tops). Be sure the skirt or dress is not too full or longer than the graduation gown.
Dress pants should be worn with a collared dress shirt and a dark colored tie.
Shoes should be a neutral color.
Items not allowed
No jeans are allowed
No heels (wedges are fine), casual sandals, or flip flops are allowed.
No decorating of caps allowed.
Graduates are NOT permitted to have bags of any kind. This includes, but is not limited to, purses, backpacks, book bags, waist bags, tote bags, fanny packs, etc.
Cell Phones
Graduates NOT allowed to have a cell phone during graduation. This rule will be strictly enforced. Any student found with a phone will have that device confiscated.
We thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Moving Your School Google to Your Personal Google
Attention Graduating Seniors:
Since you are NOT returning to a Gwinnett County Public School next year, then you will want to complete the following process to keep any important files/data that you have created in your GCPS Google Drive BEFORE the last day of school. The preferred method to save/download your files/data from your GCPS Google account is through Google Takeout.
Once you graduate you won't be able to download your files/data from your GCPS Google account and they will be permanently deleted by the district.
Basic directions on how to use Google Takeout to download your Google files/data.
- Make sure that you are logged into your GCPS Google Workspace for Education account.
- Open a new browser, go to the Google Takeout, follow the prompts, and check all the services that you want to save data from. You won’t need to select every data option. Probably the most important one to select are the files stored in your GCPS Google Drive but be sure to select any other data option that you want to save.
There are many online tutorials and videos on how to use Google Takeout that can give you more detailed directions.
In the rare-case this applies to you, we also have Instructions to save Adobe or OneDrive/M365 files.
Final Transcript Information
ALL colleges will require a final transcript!!! If you already know where you are going and it is OUT OF STATE, you can go ahead and fill out the form on this message:
As the year is winding down, if you are going to college, the college will need your FINAL transcript in order for you to register for classes. Below are your options for doing so:
1. In-state transcripts will be requested by you through gafutures.org. Do not request until after June 2nd. (If you request any earlier, it won't be your FINAL transcript). REPEAT: the student must request it.
2. Out-of-state transcripts (a two-step process) will be sent through Naviance (if you used Common App). You will request through Naviance following the instructions on the attachment. You MUST ALSO request those here: Send through Common App/Naviance
3. Out-of-state NOT through Common App: If you did not apply through Common App, you will have to mail your transcript. You will receive ONE free copy of your transcript to pick up from the school after June 2nd. **If you need more than one, there is a $5 fee per additional copy, to be paid on mypaymentsplus.
**Please note that counselors do not work during the summer. If these instructions are not followed, you run the risk of not having your final transcript sent to your college on time***
Counseling Updates
Senior Meetings
Seniors, we are continuing to hold senior meetings. Please do not panic if we have not gotten to you.
Graduation Requirements
If you are in need of a course to meet graduation requirements and have not spoken with your Counselor, please report to your Counselor's office.
Deadlines and Emails
Check your email DAILY. 4. If you need documents submitted for college/scholarship, please contact your Counselor to make sure he/she is aware of the deadline.
Transcripts
Counselors are prohibited by GCPS from sending transcripts via email unless it is encrypted. However, the process of encrypting the document is a tedious one so we would much rather upload the document for them. If a school is on CommonApp, we will send the transcripts through Naviance. If the school is NOT on CommonApp but it is a school in the state of Georgia, they can send their own transcript through GAFutures (IF we have their SSN on file). If the school is NOT on CommonApp and is out of state, we need them to find out from the school which secure portal we can use to upload their transcript.
