Taft Community School Newsletter, Week of Nov 6, 2023
From the Principal's Desk
Dear Taft Families,
Last week was a busy week! We had several events from Halloween to professional development for teachers and students assemblies. My family and I celebrated Day of the Dead on November 2 and paid homage to our loved ones and ancestors.
As you know, the mornings and evenings are now much cooler so please make sure you’re sending your child to school with a warm coat. A reminder that the Lost and Found box located near the front gate also has several coats that have been left behind or misplaced. When you have a moment, please check it as we typically donate coats that haven’t been claimed in over a month.
We have a short week with the trimester ending on November 9. We have no school on Thursday and Friday due to the trimester ending and Veteran’s Day. Enjoy the long weekend! Mr. Camarena
End of Trimester 1 and Report Cards
Trimester 1 ends on Thursday, November 9, and Report Cards will be sent home with students on Friday, Nov 17. Teachers are currently wrapping up grading and preparing your student’s report cards. We will send reminders as the date nears.
Halloween Parade and Pictures
Our students and staff had a great time at our Halloween Parade! Thank you to Carlsen Subaru for providing the candy and to our Community School Specialist, Yadira DiSiena, for donating 400 Halloween buckets! We truly appreciate it!
Principal’s coffee
We had another great turnout at our monthly Principal’s coffee on November 2. We celebrated the Day of the Dead and ate Pan de Muerto while discussing several topics. Below is the presentation for your reference.
Student Recognition Activities & Rewards
In addition to having Halloween on campus this week, we also celebrated our monthly Student of the Month Assembly where students from each class were awarded a certificate for being Responsible, which is one of our Dolphin traits. Students were recognized in front of their teachers and peers. We also reviewed student expectations in the following presentation and did our weekly Dolphin Ticket Raffle. We had a great time! Congratulations to all our recipients!
