Dear Families,
We appreciate your help in helping your student today! Our goal for today was to find ways to engage students while they're having to stay home. The assignments are listed below for each grade level. Please check in with your student(s)' teacher via text or email so that we can use that as a form of attendance to submit for the day. We ask that you check in with your teacher by 11:00 AM.
Secondary students (6th-12th) we ask that you check in with your 2nd period teacher. We expect all assignments to be completed before your return on Wednesday. If you have any questions about assignments, please email the corresponding teacher to get the necessary help.
If you have any questions, please contact me at kjeffrey@guthriecsd.net
Sincerely,
Mrs. Jeffrey
Suggestions for At Home Work
Pre-K Assignments
- Send me a picture of something at your house that starts with the letter T and something that starts with the first letter of your name.
- send pictures to efreeman@guthriecsd.net
Kindergarten Assignments
- Draw a picture of what you did Monday and Tuesday while we were out of school and write me one or two sentences to go with their picture. Remember to begin your sentence with a capital letter and end your sentence with an ending mark!
- You can also read a book that can be recorded on their reading log and go over the sight words that are in your folder.
1st Grade Assignments
Students can practice the sight word sentence lists in their take home folders.
Five Senses Science/Writing Activity
1. Pick three types of small snacks (ex. gold fish, ruffles potato chip, and animal cracker)
2. Observe each snack with your five senses ( just like our cracker experiment we completed in class)
3. Make a list of things you observe (ex. how does it feel, what can you notice by looking at the snack, how does it taste)
4. Take a picture of your experiment and email it to me at ctimmons@guthriecsd.net
5. Bring your list to class
Math
Play a game of Go Fish but try to make 10. Example, if I held the 8 card, I would want to ask my partner for a 2. Take a picture of yourself playing the game 😊
OR
If you don't have playing cards, make a list of number sentences that make 10. Example: 1+9=10
Bring the list with you to school.
Stay warm and safe. I can't wait to see you guys!! I hope you all have a wonderful day!
Mrs. Timmons
2nd Grade Assignments
- I will be contacting my parents through our ClassDojo app through messages. I will post a video on our story explaining to my students what their learning activity will be for today. They will be working on Day One of a Distance Learning Packet that they keep in their backpacks.
3rd Grade Assignments
- Click on the above link and listen to "Turkey Trouble" After you have watched the video, create a short review of the story that you can share with your friends tomorrow in class. I have added a book review page if you would like a template. You don't have to print it, just use it as a guide for writing your book review.
- Math: https://youtu.be/HZpXuc735pg watch this link about the story the doorbell rang. See if you can follow along and divide the objects to see the total number of cookies each person gets each time the doorbell rings. You will need any twelve objects to begin with (beans, legos, cups, spoons, etc to represent the cookies in the story.) Take a picture of you doing this activity to share with Mrs. Hatfield.
