PTO Dine to Donate Tuesday (12/14) at Chipotle!

Make dinner a selfless act by joining us for a fundraiser to support Valerius PTO.


Come in to the Chipotle at 3737 Merle Hay Rd, Suite 100 on Tuesday, December 14th between 4-8pm. Bring in the flyer (will be sent home next week), show it on your smartphone or tell the cashier you're supporting the cause to make sure that 33% of the proceeds will be donated to Valerius PTO.


You can also order Online. Use code ABCVGHC before checkout in 'promo' field. Orders placed on Chipotle.com or through the Chipotle app for pickup using this unique code will be counted towards the fundraiser.

PTO Winter Party Volunteers and Supplies Needed!

Following the recent lift on visitor restrictions previously in place for elementary schools we are now able to invite parents into the classroom for our Winter Classroom Party! We are limiting the number of volunteers to 2 per classroom but there are other ways to help if you are unable to attend in person.

  • 3rd through 5th graders are making I Spy Globes during the party and we need ½ inch to 1 inch trinkets to stuff them with! Think leftover craft supplies, tiny Legos, charms, Barbie shoes, etc. If you’ve got such trinkets, please send them to school in a sealed bag before Wednesday, December 15th.

Counselor's Corner

Hello Valerius Families! We would like to give a special shout out to all the families who contributed to our “Thanks 4 Giving” food collection for the Urbandale Food Pantry. We were able to contribute 540 pounds of food worth over $860 to help provide meals for our friends and neighbors in Urbandale. A special thank you to the kindergartners who donated $323.70 worth of peanut butter, one of the pantry’s most requested items. Thanks again for your overwhelming support and generosity!

Dress Warm for Outside Recess!

We got an incredible week of mild temperatures in December, but the colder temperatures are coming back. Per UCSD procedures, recess will be outdoors unless the temperature is below 10 degrees with windchill.

Choose The U: Substitute Pay Increased To $165 Per Day

Providing high-quality instruction is essential for learning which is why Urbandale Community School District is increasing the daily teacher substitute pay rate from $135 to $165. Once substitute teachers have subbed 50 days within a school year, they’ll receive a loyalty bonus which will increase their daily substitute rate for the rest of the school year to $185.
