Attendance Reminder for Students and Parents
One of the most important things a student can do to be successful is to regularly attend school. We understand that there are life events that require students to miss time, and this message is intended to provide you with the information you need to understand attendance requirements and procedures. If you have further questions about your student’s attendance, please reach out to their administrator.
Attendance Requirements/Procedures:
Students are allowed a maximum of 5 absences for a semester class and 10 absences for a year-long class. Students exceeding these attendance requirements will be responsible for seat time makeup.
If you have exceeded these absences for a course, whether it is due to a lawful or unlawful absence, you will be required to make up seat time to receive high school credit for the course.
A student is considered truant after they miss 3 full-day consecutive unlawful absences/unexcused days and/or misses a total of 5 or more full-day unexcused absences.
To avoid truancy, please submit excuses within 3 days of a student's absence. Excuses may be submitted in person, through email, or through our form on the school’s website.
Communication is key! If your student is unable to attend school or you have an anticipated absence, communicate with their teachers and other staff as needed.
A student experiencing absences due to a medical reason may be eligible for homebound instruction if it is a chronic condition or may remove them from the school for an extended period of time. Please speak with a medical professional and/or the school to determine if they may be eligible.
