Lady Vikings Wrap Up Great Season Against Salado
7A
The Lady Vikings faced off for their final game at home against Salado. Last outing was a tough one and this game was no different. Pressure all over the court from Salado made it difficult to setup offensive attacks from the Lady Vikings but they certainly did not stop trying. Glimpses of offense shined through in moments really giving energy to our Lady Vikings. Sofia McKinnon, Scarlett Wright and Ashlyn Evans really put down a few solid drives showing Salado can be beat. Offensive and Defensive rebounds from Autumn Clements, Sadie Peake and Lillian Kamenzind kept plays alive while Eva Navarro and Sienna Todd were fearless in breakaway opportunities. Finally, our captain Danni Tristan fought through a wall of defenders all night demonstrating the composure needed to bring the ball up the court and help kick off an offense. Despite the loss, our Lady Vikings shined with their unwillingness to give up. Final 41-7 Salado. Our Lady Vikings finished second in district at 7-3, great season ladies!!!
7B
The Lady Vikings put up a strong fight against Salado. Salado went home with the win. While we struggled to get the ball down the court against Salado’s strong press, we held strong on the defensive end. Evelyn Brown led with 4 steals, followed by Gracyn Kocak and Victoria Porras with 3 steals each. Aubrey Alves also had a great game defensively with 3 steals and 2 rebounds.
Points Scored: Victoria Porras: 2 points, Evelyn Brown: 3 points
Rebounds: Victoria Porras: 1, Evelyn Brown: 1, Summer Johnston: 1, Katy Macias: 1, Aubrey Alves: 2, Sierra Smith: 1
Steals: Gracyn Kocak: 3, Victoria Porras: 3, Evelyn Brown: 4, Maylee Leatham: 1, Summer Johnston: 2, Aubrey Alves: 3, Liata Keehl: 1, Sierra Smith: 1
Despite the loss, we showed a lot of hustle and growth throughout the season. Our hard work is evident, and it’s clear that there’s a bright future ahead for our Lady Vikings! They should be proud of all they’ve accomplished. Contributing to this year’s 7th grade team were Gracyn Kocak, Victoria Porras, Evelyn Brown, Maylee Leatham, Summer Johnston, Brooke Viruette, Katy Macias, Aubrey Alves, Liata Keehl, and Sierra Smith.

The Lady Vikings completed their season Thursday night against a stout Salado team. The girls went toe to toe with the Lady Eagles early on, matching Salado rebound for rebound and steal for steal. The girls created several good chances early on but unfortunately for the Lady Vikings the rim was unkind and the ball just wouldn't fall through the hoop. Salado was eventually able to unlock the rims, but really had to work for their points throughout. The Lady Vikings represented themselves very well to the very end. All played hard and were completely exhausted by the end of the night in a seemingly unusually warm gym. I’m very proud of these young ladies this season as they learned a lot, grew a lot, and were a fun group to be a part of. Members of this year's team are: Brinkley Gold, Kinsley Boyd, Peyton Christensen, Aislin Munoz, Lauren Carpenter, Lilah Culbreth, Lila Rodriguez, Emma Luow, Te’a Turner, Stella Granger.
8B
The Lady Vikings gave their best effort coming up short against Salado. The Lady Vikings were aggressive on defense, with Shelby Rospirim leading the team in steals (4), and Madison Hawes making an impact on the boards with 8 rebounds.
Points Scored: Gracy Farjellah: 2 points, Madison Hawes: 4 points
Rebounds: Kinley Dean: 2, Gracy Farjellah: 4, Liana Stevens: 1, Aaliyah Arthur: 2, Molly Cortez: 3, Stella Maxwell: 4, Shelby Rospirim: 1, Madison Hawes: 8
Steals: Kinley Dean: 2, Gracy Farjellah: 1, Liana Stevens: 2, Aaliyah Arthur: 2, Molly Cortez: 2, Stella Maxwell: 2, Shelby Rospirim: 4, Madison Hawes: 3
The season might have ended on a tough note, but it’s clear we’ve shown resilience, and the future looks bright as our girls move on to high school! Contributing to this year’s 8th grade team were Kinley Dean, Gracy Farjellah, Liana Stevens, Aaliyah Aurthur, Molly Cortez, Stella Maxwell, Shelby Rospirim, Madison Hawes, and Sienna McGuire
Vikings Face Off Against the Gators
(Gateway, 2-6-25)
B Teams
7th Grade
Our LVMS 7th grade B team basketball traveled to Gateway Prep in Georgetown on Thursday night for our second meeting of the season. The Vikings were up by 2 going into the half. The Vikings continued to play tough in the 3rd quarter, but fell behind in the fourth quarter. Gateway continued to play well, offensively and managed to get all of the correct bounces to lead the scoreboard at the final buzzer. Our defensive player of this week’s game is Cameron Johnson, with 4 steals and 8 rebounds, and our offensive leader of the week is also Cameron Johnson, with 6 points. This defeat brings the season record to 4-3.
8th Grade
Our LVMS 8th grade B team basketball traveled to Gateway Prep in Georgetown on Thursday night for our second meeting of the season. The Vikings were tied up going into the half. The Vikings continued to play tough in the 3rd quarter, going up by 13 points at one time, but fell behind in the fourth quarter. Gateway continued to narrow the gap and brought the score, down by 1 with 3 seconds left to go in the game. A foul against the Gators put them on the free throw line and, sadly, they hit both free throws, which put Gateway ahead by 1 at the final buzzer (for the third time this season). Our defensive player of this week’s game is Landon Jordan, with 8 steals and 5 rebounds, and our offensive leader of the week is Raylan Horton, with 9 points and 1 assist. This defeat brings the season record to 4-4.

7th Grade - Coming Soon!
8th Grade
The Vikings went out to Gateway Prep to take on the Gators on Thursday for a rematch of December’s game. The game was back and forth and competitive early on with the Gators leading 10-8 after the first quarter. Lago Vista’s great team man-to-man defense helped slow down Gateway’s top scorer and some clutch free throws by Gavin Warner got the momentum going in the right direction. With 11 seconds left in the first half, Easton Rice hit a massive 3-pointer to put Lago up 21-15 at halftime. Just a minute into the 3rd quarter, Gateway was able to get some quick buckets to go up 22-21. The Vikings seemed to take that personally and proceeded to go on a 10-0 run thanks to great ball movement and teamwork. Trevor Ledet splashed a 3-pointer as the third quarter expired and the Vikings never looked back. Trevor Lane, Ayden Chaffin, and Colin Vardaman all contributed to the scoring, securing a 56-38 win over the Gators, bringing the district record to 6-1, 10-2 on the season! Our last game of the season is home vs. Lampassas next Thursday.

Strive for 5!
In addition to missed learning opportunities, many parents also may not realize that our school's funding from the State is directly tied to daily attendance. Each day your child is present, the school receives about $37. While $37 might not seem significant on its own, it adds up quickly. Last year, the District's funding was reduced by over $700,000 due to student absences. This loss of funds impacts our ability to hire more teachers, reduce class sizes, and further enhance the learning environment for all students.
We appreciate your help in reducing avoidable absences so that your child — and all of our students — can take full advantage of the excellent instruction we offer every day.

Vaping = DAEP
HB 114 makes offenses involving the possession and/or or use of vapes a mandatory DAEP offense. School districts will now be required to place all students who are caught in possession and/or or using vapes (of any kind – not just those with drugs) into their DAEP.
Please share this with your children - it's just not worth it!
