Adams Family newsletter
May 8 - May 12
From the Principal's Desk
We hope that you are enjoying your weekend in between bouts of rain. I do appreciate the rain a little more than snow:)
We had a wonderful week at school. Students have completed their MCAs for this year, so that is a celebration. Our students and staff have worked extremely hard and have many things to celebrate. Our students are making growth and we will continue to work hard for the next several weeks.
The month of May is full of exciting events so please make sure to mark your calendar. This week we have our monthly PAC meeting and our Diversity Day event at school. Next week is Track & Field (still looking for volunteers) and the week after is our All School Picnic. All of these events are open to families and we look forward to welcoming you all to Adams!
We have a few reminders that we would like to share with students and families as we finish out the school year. Many classes have time set aside for snack time. Please make sure students are coming to school with snack-size items. We have seen a significant increase in students bringing large bags of chips and Takis that are interfering with school routines. Thank you in advance for your help with this.
Another friendly reminder is if families are choosing to pick up their students, we need you to use the parent pick up lane. We realize the line can be long, but it moves fairly quickly. Staff are supervising students closely to ensure their safety and we cannot do this if parents are walking across the parking lot or having students run across the parking lot. Again, we want all students to remain safe so thank you in advance for helping us with this.
Let's have a great week!

Parent Advisory Council participation:
In order to continue to offer fun free events throughout the year, we'll need a little help from Adams families next year. We would love to have you join the board (we're fun, I promise!). You don't need any experience; you just have to want to make Adams even more awesome for our students and families.
If a board position sounds like too much to take on right now, we could use your help with some projects next year--social media management, community outreach coordination, outdoor classroom project management, grant writing, restaurant night coordination, and Family Fun night coordination. If any of those things sounds interesting at all, let us know. All are invited to attend our next meeting: May 11 @6:30.
Come find out about what's happening at Adams, and help create events for our students, families, and community. We'll bring treats! Come @6 to socialize. Meeting starts @6:30. You can join meetings virtually, if you like. Here's how to connect: meet.google.com/uyk-otey-hra
For kids: fun activities! Bring your kids to play with their friends while you connect with other adults.
5/17: Restaurant Night@ Jersey Mike's
4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. @ 5300 Central Ave NE; Fridley
Meet your Adams friends for a meal together. Jersey Mike's will donate 50% of their sales to support events and programming for our students! Be sure to tell them you're from Adams!
Clothing Needed:
RedHawks are in need of new/gently used clothing for students who have accidents/need a change of clothing while at school.
Here's what is needed:
- Pants: sizes 5-14.
- Preferably athletic pants, sweats or stretchy leggings.
- XL shirts
- New underwear sizes 6-14
Teacher Appreciation:
Adams staff has been working hard all year to help our kids be successful. Let's show them our appreciation by stocking the lounge with all of their favorite things. Please order something off of this wishlist OR purchase it at a store & drop it off at the office for PAC by May 31.
Here are some things they said they love: Diet Coke, Pretzels, Mountain Dew, Popcorn, Dr. Pepper, chocolate, Lemonade, Snickers, Twix
Birthday grams:
Side note: we won't offer birthday grams next year, so if you'd like to send a bag o' goodies to a student or teacher, here's your chance:
PAC will deliver treats to students and staff to celebrate birthdays! Cost: $5 You can order or donate a birthday gram here. (https://my.cheddarup.com/c/2022-23-birthday-grams?cart=94ace1c1-1f50-4cb4-9ac3-298fee1f5acf%21%2142034918)

We have some great events coming up as we round out the school year. Come join us!
Diversity Day Celebration
Help us with a fun, educational evening as students & grown-ups explore Adams families' cultures and customs on May 11th, 5-7pm. Volunteers will be stamping passports, helping with a chalk activity, or serving food. Sign up here!
Track & Field Day
It's back and happening on May 19th. You can join in the fun by helping us run the various stations. Sign up here!
We need more tutors!
Work with our Kindergartners to build their reading and math skills (2-hour training is provided and required). Or come in once a week to read with our First Graders.
Coke Gives
