It's the Last Week of School!!!
A Week
Greetings, White Marsh Families!
Welcome to the last week of school! We have had an amazing year!
The Book Fair is still open, and will wrap up on Monday. All purchases need to be made by the end of day on Monday. Thank you for your support of the Book Fair! On Tuesday, our 5th graders will have their awards presented at 2 pm. Parents, please see the information that has been shared by Mrs. Cord and Mrs. Wathen. Also on Tuesday, the PTA will meet at 6:30 pm. All parents are invited to attend. A huge thank-you to our PTA for all of your support this year! WMES is blessed to have such wonderful support from our families!
Our Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade awards will be presented on Thursday. See the specific times below.
Friday is the last day for students, and is an early dismissal day. Students will dismiss at 1:45 pm on Friday.
To our 5th graders that will be leaving us this year- we are so proud of the accomplishments you have made in your elementary years! We will miss you, and know that you will move on to accomplish great things!
From the WMES Team to all of our Bear families, best wishes for a wonderful summer! We will see you on Wednesday, August 23, which is the day that schools re-open.

Please be sure to check your students' attendance on HAC. If they have an absence that you feel should be excused to allow them participation in this event, email Mrs. Steele with the date(s) and the reason for the absence by Monday, June 5, 2023.
WMES is Under Construction!
The Main Office will be open over the summer. However, if you need to stop in for some reason, it is always a good idea to call ahead and make sure someone will be available to assist you.

*If your student is currently in Pre-Kindergarten at LMDES, you do not need to register them for Kindergarten; they will roll over to WMES automatically.
The following are general reminders:
From SMCPS:
Parents and guardians should be mindful of all debt that their students accrue throughout the 2022-2023 School Year. Student debt could take any one of the following forms:
Lost/Damaged Computer Devices
Lost/Damaged Textbooks
Lunch Debt
Parents/Guardians play a key role in monitoring not only their student's actions but also their fiscal responsibilities regarding lost/damaged issued devices (such as computers and textbooks) and/or food purchases made by your child in our school cafeteria. Payment can be made in the form of cash or check and should include your child's five-digit Student ID# (e.g., #12345). For further convenience, families may also pay by credit card online at http://www.myschoolbucks.com/. All questions and concerns should be directed to the school bank or the principal's secretary.
Chronic Absenteeism
Chronic Absenteeism: Students are chronically absent when absent 10% or more of the school days while enrolled at that school. For example, a student who is registered to attend a school for 30 days and who is absent 3 of those 30 days is considered chronically absent.
WMES will follow up with chronically absent students through the Pupil Services Team, Pupil Personnel Worker, and the Department of Student Services. In order to reduce the number of our students with Chronic Absenteeism, incentives to encourage good attendance include participation in the Bear Crawl, Running Club, and School Dance.
Text Alerts
SMCPS Text Alerts are a great way to get information quickly. They are not sent often, and usually only in the event of an unexpected school delay or closure. On occasion, WMES will send a text alert about a late bus, substitute bus, or school event. Click the link for information about registering for text alerts.
